He always called the service hat "The Bus Driver", lol.
That's what we called it in my day too. It was much cooler when you could wear it crunched down like the WWII aircrew. Not so cool headgear in my day.

Happy Anniversary Air Force. Good thing you had the Army and Marines build those remote air strips so you had a place to land! :drill:

Well now hang on... Dad was a Sea Bee in WWII (Eniwetok Atoll), and that was his gig. But I guess technically that was before there was a USAF. He always told me that the Marines would go in and secure the island and the Sea Bees would follow and build the airstrips.

Thanks for the great mess hall in Honduras!

Then treating me to to a sweet room in Charleston SC.

Not so much for dumping me out of a C130 in high winds. That resulted in my only tree landing on my last jump.

We’ve been in Honduras a long time. The unit down there comes under 12 their fours.

i’ve never been to Charleston, but you do have to keep in mind most of our stuff was built a lot more recently than the other services.

I give a coworker of mine a hard time about jumping out of our perfectly good aircraft. I also caveat that with, and Pope’s C-130s.

Which ones do you speak of? World War II ended a lot sooner because air power came to bear on Japan.

On 18 Sep 47 the USAF became a separate branch of the US Military. If memory serves it began as the Aeronautical Division of the US Army Signal Corps back in 1907, but didn't get it's hands on an aircraft until 1909.

72 years old. Good news: the B-52 fleet isn't quite that old! However some KC-135s are close...
B-52's, and F-15's will do the retirement fly by's of the F22's, and the F-35's.........Happy Birthday fellow Zoomies!!
