I got Chevy junk in the mail and saw the Sonic in there. Looks decent and gets some pretty good mpg, up to 40. Have any of you driven it with the 6 sp stick? Wondering how it performs for its intended purpose.

I think given that market segment's competition, I would test drive both the Ford Focus as well as a Honda Fit before buying that Chevrolet Sonic. Not saying there's necessarily anything wrong with the Chevy, but I think if that were a car I were personally interested in, I'd at least give the other two a look.

Everyone I've talked to with a Honda Fit loves the darn thing, they epitomize "little on the outside, large on the inside."

The Sonic, even though it's all new, is, basically, an upgraded Aveo.

The Aveo was, for it's entire time on sale, one of the worst cars sold in the United States (from a safety standpoint).

    Small, tinny, buzzy, & unsafe.

I'd rather buy a used something else than a Sonic.

    Did you test drive it?

Nope. Didn't like the looks so I passed.

I ended up choosing between the Mazda 3 hatch and the Focus hatch. The Focus EPA mileage is actually a bit understated as opposed to what I heard about the Mazda being overstated. And the Focus interior was nicer.

I have driven the new Chevy Spark which replaced the Aveo and is mostly made in Korea. The Sonic I have not driven but it is a step up from the Spark so I can Imagine that it is a nice car for the money.
