    I use both @ the same time.
    Harbor freight muffs (the more expensive ones, $7 :D) along with E.A.R. yellow foam ear plugs. My daughter brought a couple of borrowed $300 muffs when I took her shooting the first time. They were nice, but I'm not sure they were quieter than my combo, but you could hear people talk. I don't go there to hear people talk. OK maybe the RO. I'd have to go thru 43 pairs of the cheap muffs to = the i-muffs. Protect your ears! One way or the other.

    Look at the surfire ear plugs, they are different and work great. Like them better than my $100 electronic muffs.

    Peltor makes a Fantabulous ear muff. We used them at every firing range in the military that i helped run. Just a good product for a low amount of cash.
