Hello from a newbie in north Indy

Hi everybody. I was born and raised near Chicago where my only limited experience with firearms had been at Scout camp.

Now that I have a home and family to protect in Indy, I came to this site for an education. I'm looking to purchase my first handgun in the near future so any tips would be appreciated.

Welcome. There are plenty of good people and information here to help you with your first purchase. I would recommend making friends with someone who has a variety of handguns that wouldn't mind taking you at to a range. Or head over to Pop Guns and rent a few different handguns.
