This may sound hyper-detailed, but I think the 870 checkering has 3 "prongs" near the action, but the 500 has 2. At least, traditionally.

The curved corner at the bottom sure looks like Beretta but nothing came up on google that could make me say that definitively.

Y'know, those Mossberg 500s used to come with a pistol grip and regular stock. It wouldn't surprise me if there are plenty of orphaned stocks and pistol grips floating around.
