    true. But I usually set my tent away from a tree. A ridgeline or a tarp over the hammock would protect if not cushin the fall or dead branches.

    good point!

    A ridgeline or tarp will NOT provide protection from anything big enough to seriously hurt or kill you. If that was the case, a tent would provide adequate protection too.

    I'd hate to see someone not pay attention to what's above them and have something tragic happen.
