The beauty of the Hindenburg Omen is that it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. If enough investors decide to get stupid at the same time, worried about a coincidence, it can trigger any fall of the market. Just like yelling "FIRE" in a crowded movie theater will cause a stampede to the exit, with people getting trampled, it could happen in the market.

Any of you econ guys have a handle on this, what do you think is going to happen?

There has been some talk of this and a friend of mine is a retired Prof . form IUPUI investment finance .
He has been e-mailing articles and opinions about this .
Unfortunately due to the policy of INGO I can't reproduce it for the education of the viewers .
    Thanks

From what I have read the Hindenburg omen does not neccessarily predict a major crash, but every major crash in the past 25 years has been preceded by a Hindenburg omen.

I think that there will be a double dip to the recession. There is just too much uncertainty in Washington for anyone to invest with confidence, and there is a lot of unsecured debt floating around out there.

In either event, I think the US will weather the storm, OK-ish. This assumption of mine rests on the fact that we have the strongest FIAT currency in the world. So as the value of other currencies declines, ours will still remain strong compared to theirs, and as such we'll be able to continue to borrow money to band-aid the problem.

Hopefully, people will realize that a socialist economy is not a self perpetuating one, and at that point we can begin to dig ourselves out of trouble.

If not, well, I'm a decent farmer, and have lots of skills with which to barter. Probably just enough land to subsistence farm as well.

Impossible. The market can't crash, we fixed it with a central bank, then a bunch of legislation, then more legislation, then I think someone said it should be illegal for the stock market to crash.

So, we're good to go. Nothing to see here.

Bob Chapman said either late last year or early this year that...

    1) Spring 2010 would show a MERE FACADE of everything being rosey

    2) Summer 2010 is when the early stages of unraveling will start to happen

    3) Fall 2010 is when everything will REALLY hit the fan

Thus far, Chapman has been dead-on...we'll see if/when "3)" plays out, but buckle up and get ready for a very bumpy ride this Fall and Winter.

Celente is saying the same thing.
