So it’s time to treat myself to a new rifle. I’m going to get the HK MR556 but man do I wait till after shot show to see if they come out with something new or just buy it now? Pretty good price with a local dealer now. Has anyone heard about a new rifle coming out next year?

Well, as a years-long HK fan, I can tell you several things. First, the HK MR556 is awesome (albeit expensive), and you should get one no matter what shows up at SHOT. Second, HK will find some way to screw us loyal fans over and disappoint us yet again—likely with yet another punt on upgrading the MR556 to something more like a civilian version of the HK416a5 that is domestically availalbe. In which case I refer you back to my first point. Especially if you can find one around here that’s reasonably priced-- for an HK.

I have been looking at the MR556 for years and almost buying one multiple times when I found a good price. But what I really want is a 416 and the MR556 is not a 416. Also, the fear that H&K will bring a civi 416 in 5.56 to market at “this year’s SHOT Show” and not wanting to be stuck with a MR556 is the reason I have found myself in this same position for years.

Maybe this year is when H&K will bring a civi MP7!

yeah. I think Falls right. I should just buy one anyway and if they come out with something cooler then I’ll just have to move some stuff around to justify buying both.

Okay so I picked her up!! Haven’t had a range day yet but… it’s awfully nice. Everyone said it’s heavy and I guess it could be but I don’t really feel a big difference between this and a DD. This one comes with a very nice case.
Its heavy because of all the gold plated internals. There has to be some sort of precious metal to justify that price tag!

Just hatin because I don't have one! Very nice purchase!

Nice-congratulations! Does yours have the lighter profiled barrel under that handguard? Mine is the older, HB version (and heavy as a pig). I like the new MLOK handguard. Mine came with an almost worthless HKey handguard so your MLOK is a significant upgrade.

It’s lighter than my smith with quad rails. Waiting on PSA to ship my scope so that will add a bit. Handle magpul vs HK but the Mlok is nicer then the quads

Give us a range report when you can. I think the stock trigger is actually pretty decent for an out-of-the-box AR (and it better be when you consider the price for these bad boys). Make sure you get some decent copper bore cleaner if you plan to shoot it a lot.
