Fn, my too ate has the 45 c and I have a p30l. IMHO the new hk's are super overhyped. High bore axis and I feel they are undersprung. I've shot berrettas with better trigger. My glock 19 seems to have less recoil, gets back on target faster and can accept mags over 15 in capacity. The hk has a wonderful grip a wonderfully placed decocker and a good albeit sloppy slide catch. I prefer the hk's mag release. The fnp is mor adaptable, has a much better trigger isn't as slippery in the hand, the fn products seem to have very good costumer service as well

I'm trying to make a decision on threaded barrel or comfort? Anyone has experiences with either one of them?

The HK45 is closer in size to the FN than the 45C. Why not just get a threaded barrel for the HK?

bore axis will be close with either, and you can set up the HK to what ever variant you want (DA/SA, de-cock only, saftey only or LEM)

I bought the FNP .45 Tactical brand new in Black and have mixed feelings about the gun. On the one hand, the original magazines that came with it gave me feeding and ejecting problems, which FN said was their fault b/c they manufactured the mags to the wrong spec. After getting new mags, the firearm blew up on me. It could have been the ammo (Winchester White Box) or the gun, but either way, FN replaced the entire gun with a new one, so Kudos to them. However, since getting the new pistol back, it produces a host of issues when fired with a suppressor, such as Failure to feed, Failure to eject, and Failure to lock open on last round. This was with multiple types of ammo through approx. 100 rounds. Some INGO'ers feel that it could be a problem with the suppressor, but I have not been able to verify this with FN b/c their Customer Service will not answer the phone or return my calls or emails.

Even with all of that said, I really want the gun to work b/c it is such a pleasure to shoot when it works. Without the suppressor, all of those issues go from 9/10 rounds to only 1/10 rounds. The grip is cut high which allows my small hands to really control the recoil. The recoil feels nonexistant, almost like a .22. As far as accuracy goes, I became so frustrated with all of the malfunctions that I did not have the patience to try and group on paper. But I did shoot at cans from approx. 25 yards away, and I did not miss at all.

I can not say that I would recommend this firearms to others b/c of the problems that I have had and am still having with it. But at the same time, I am not giving up on mine just yet b/c I feel like there is potential to own a really good firearm if I can just fix some bugs.

I can not say that I have any real experience with the HKs, but I hope my :twocents: about FN helps your decision.

I have both, but it all depends on what you want to do with the weapon. I have the FNP45 Tactical with the matching Silencerco Osprey suppressor and a Trijicon RM04 red dot sight. The tactical has never had any failures at all with or without the suppressor. I shoot Sellior & Belloit 230gr FMJ and have tried other brands of ammo without any problems. This thing shoots one hole groups at 50 feet and I routinely shoot it at 100 yards off sand bags. scoring about 50% hits on 12" steel plates. The 15 +1 round count is a big advantage to combat or tactical work, but this configuration (even without the suppressor) is a bear to carry and conceal. The trigger pull is long, but smooth and predictable in double action mode, and very good in single action. With the suppressor installed, I get a lot of blow back inside the slide and down the sides of the magazines. About every 50 rounds I have to use a Lens Pen to clean the blow back off the red dot sight.

The HK45C was purchased as a carry weapon and it fits that assignment completely. Singe/double action, manual safety and de-cocking lever. The 8+1 round count is sufficient and it carries well concealed in ny Comp-Tac MTAC inside the waistband holster. The trigger has slightly less travel in double action mode than the FNP45 Tactical and the single action mode is smooth and clean as well. Again, I haven't had any failures to feed or fire with any ammo I've fed into this pistol. I can shoot the HK well at 50 feet but not the one hole groups like the FNP45 Tactical. I think the machining and design of the HK is superior to the FNP.

For concealed carry or open carry, go with the HK45C. For targets or combat/tactical, go with the FNP45 Tactical. The cool factor and "Wows" at the range make the FNP a winner there as well.

    AMAZING feedback!

Thanks for such detailed reviews on these weapons. I have a USP Compact stainless 40 from the winter of 1996 when they were first released and it's still my favorite handgun. The great thing about it is that it's value has increased in the past 15years. Would one gun hold it's value you better than the other?

Always go with the threaded barrel, if possible.

I do have the itch for a canned handgun, that the only reason that I'm considering the FNP. The Compact guns just fit my hands better. Do know how much a threaded barrel for the HK45C would be?

How do you carry the FNP45? Belt holster with a leg strap?:dunno:

I actually have two FNP 45s. I have the standard FNP45 and the Tactical as well. I carry the standard FNP45 in a Crossbreed Super Tuck IWB holster. The weapon with two spare mags and 46 rounds of ammo is about too much to carry daily for a personal defense weapon. The Tactical with the red dot won't fit in the super tuck but I have seen tactical holsters with leg straps made specifically for this weapon.

I picked up a black FNP45 tactical less than a month ago. I've only shot 450 rounds out of it but zero issues with any of the three magazines. I'm waiting on paperwork now for my can so I haven't given it a go suppressed yet. Trigger is good, accuracy is great, and the felt recoil is the least I've felt out of a 45.

I don't have any experience with the HK.

I would get the one you need most. If you don't have a carry piece yet get the HK and if you do the FN would be my choice but I'm biased.

The 45C is uncomparable, I mean goodness it was selected by Naval Special Warfare.

    The FNP is just ok.

I agree that H&K's kick butt. Now I can't agree the 45C is the selected hand gun for The Seals. I actully that that it was the MK 25 by H&K (a fullsized frame) or something like that.

Regardless, I think that I'm going to get the HK45C now and maybe the FNP 45 in the future.
Thanks for all of the feedback,

It's the 45C, with threaded barrel, V3 trigger, and night sights.

    +1

The SEAL's did indeed take delivery of the HK45c.

The MK23 is one of the other HK's that was used by them.

A little HK porn to hold you over until you get yours!
