    Bought my 80 year old mom a Ruger Bearcat .22. Loaded with 40 grain Velocitors, I would not want to be on the wrong end of it. The smile on her face the first time she shattered a 2x4 pine board; Priceless! Her hand strength will not allow much of anything else, and the small size and simplicity of the SA Bearcat is a big plus. There is no quick reloading it, but I figure if six shots don't at least scare off the intruder (it's pretty darn loud with the Velocitors), then all is lost anyways. There are shotguns in the house, but we havn't started training with those yet.

    My wife has a Bersa .380, a S&W 642 and a Walther CCP. She has severe arthritis in her hands and the CCP is the only 9mm that she can grip tight enough to rack the slide. She also like the Bersa Thunder and generally carries either that or the .38 snub nose. The CCP is her home defense weapon and I put a light on it for target identification....IE I'm not the target:):
