This is true also; especially in one on one relations, I know many who will never be swayed no matter what the facts. Their families have basically disowned them due to their intellectual dishonesty and inability to keep their yap shut and be polite at family gatherings.

I also know many in the middle who just are not interested and don't want to be bothered. Snap decisions about topics they are not personally interested in is all the time they are willing to devote to understanding an issue.

Family visits with my wife's sister and her husband from Denver are very interesting times. Completely different world views.

My Dads side were all lever pulling Dems. Deeply involved in the Union and its policy's. Anything outside of that box was not to be discussed.
Most all of them have passed and that mind set is no longer the norm in that side of the family. Most of the cousins/etc are not union but they are still left leaning from the influences of the parents. I seldom see any of them except funerals these days. I avoid political topics and am the better for it. Total waste of air.

I think in a way conservatives are hamstrung with the silly idea that if you respond to these attacks that it gives them merit. I think that's one of the reasons people like Trump. He responds (though in a way that feeds his detractors).
