You might want to look into the overused "double tap" and "triple tap" terminology vs actual controlled, deliberate fast shots with a sight picture for each shot.

Now you've done it. You have awakened the monster that is Orange Gunsite Alum. I call him GodCooper.

Controlled pair=sight picture with each shot.

Hammer=multiple trigger depressions with a single sight picture.

GodCooper now returns to his slumber in the sea.

There's no substitute for actual trigger time. You can't shoot too much.
An indoor practice session limits you to trigger time mostly. Clearing chamber problems, mag change practice drills, etc. make for good practice. I love the "distraction" factor of everything going on, noises, etc. Make sure you're allowed to practice these drills at the range you visit.
I practice both indoors and outdoors.

This thread is pushing all your buttons isn't it? Controlled pair is what I have been meaning by double tap. I regain my sight picture before the second shot. I just feel like it sometimes takes me ages to re-acquire that second sight picture.

Several of of you have mentioned malfunction drills. Could you guys please go a little more in depth on that?? Be gentle please Kirk...

How are you practicing them indoors? Are snap caps used for this, or some other sort of dummy round? If it is by that method, how do you keep from losing the snap caps out on the range when clearing? Or, am I looking too far into this?
