So how good of a shot are you. I have been shooting for a while and just now getting into really going for tight groups at longer ranges. seems like most rifles can shoot 1 moa. one inch at a hundred yards. i have a sako 22-250 and at 200 yards it shoots around 2 inches is that any good.?????? and what kind of groups have be held at 200 yards. what kind of groups to people get when shooting 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 1000 yards.

    Hows that?
    Just remember 1" groups @ 100 ( 1MOA) are 2" @ 200, 3" @ 300 and so on
    Military standard is 4" @100 (4 MOA)

really long shots are going to be difficult with a 22-250 to say the least. wind will make long shots almost imposible. just a guess but i would think 600 yds with a 22-250 would be hard to make with any wind

I've never done any LONG range stuff, but I'd expect 2-4" groups at 100 yards. A week ago a friend of mine sighted in his .17HMR Savage with a SUPER light trigger(prone, bipod, 100 yards). I pulled the first round because i wasn't ready for the trigger, then shot 3 more, all 4 where inside one inch, and the latter 3 where well inside 1/2 inch. I was as surprised and excited as he was. I'm normally a par/sub-par rifle shooter. I'd like to invest in a nice .223 to .308 rifle for some longer range stuff.

Not enough seat time to really say. But I feel that I could take a target/threat down fairly accurately. I for sure need ALOT more practice.

At Appleseed we work hard, very hard, for two days to get people to 4 MOA every shot. Now, we do not use benches, bipods, sleds, etc. Just you, your sling, and the mat on the ground.

Getting 4 MOA in that is very hard for 99% of shooters. Even ones that are experienced.

So, if you are truly at 2 MOA, then you are doing very well. Heck, without supports, if you are doing 4 MOA then you are doing great.

Keep practicing, get training, and don't compete with the "everyone on the internet is 1 MOA or better" posts. From what I see....well you get the point.

Bowling pins at 300 yards on a windy day is good enough for me, bowling pins that were just setup at 30 yards with my M&P 40 while the person who set them up is getting into position to shoot priceless! Moral of the story....never leave your bowling pins unattended around me when you know my hand gun is loaded and on my hip:D

    Mediocre, but enthusiastic.:D

People are always have less skill than they say. Only 1 in 500 (to be optimistic) can shoot up to their weapon's inherent ability.

However, the fun part for me is learning how miserable a shot I am.:D

I Would be happy shooting someone threatening me from 22" and in one handed and eyes closed, looking away in paralyzing fear. (that's how I see it anyhow)
