    Whenever I shoot a box, I replace it with 2 boxes. Over time I have been able to stock up over 1500 rounds for each gun. As long as I can afford to do it, I will continue to do it that way. I may pay a little more (buying a 100 at a time) but keeping peace in the family is worth the extra cost. ;)

    $25 falls under discretionary spending, $200 usually requires discussion.:nono:

    My wife asks how much is enough. I tell her I don't know, but we are not there yet! She sure likes to send them down range though!:ar15:

    5,000 .22lr
    1,500 .223/5.56
    1,000 9mm
    100 for each high powered rifle (around $1 per cartridge, ouch)
    100 12g

    This is the most ammo I ever accumulated, but it used to be cheap, and now prices are rising. Shotgun ammo is still cheap, that's about it.

    Just got done sorting all my ammo into its proper home. I have a long way to go! Now if I can stop buying guns and just buy ammo I would be all right...

    The only extreme is being out of ammo!

    I would love to have more ammo on hand for everything, but my budget doesnt always allow for it.

    I have 1k in 5.56 right now but only a couple hundred for each handgun.

    I need to stock up.
    I'm with you, I'd love to have more on hand but my budget dosent allow it.Right at the moment I have about 400 rds. for my sks, 200 rds. of 9mm and 300rds. of .380. I usually buy all I can afford when I find a good deal on what ever I need,

    I reload so stocking ammo is much easier now that I don't have to worry what the market has done to inflate the price. I try to consolidate to 3 calibers that I currently reload (9mm, 45acp, and .223). Granted I do have other firearms but those I can stockpile in larger quantities. All rounds counts are approximate but close... I hope

    7.62x54r = 1,000
    12ga #00 buck = 200
    12ga #8 buck = 100
    .22LR = 3,000
    9mm = 4,500
    45acp = 1,500
    .223 = 3,000

    I cant really give a number because everyone has a different setup and amount of guns in the same caliber. What I will say is to look at your monthly budget and plan accordingly. Ammo is looking like a better investment than my 401K right now. Luckily my wife understands. Plus .223 ammo is both cheap and light.

    Just depends on their use. I buy a box of each caliber every month until I meet an amount. I haven't reached the desired amount on all calibers but I am getting there.

    I figure 500 for my some and a couple thousand for others. I love guns and ammo!

    Before the hoarder mentality took hold I would only keep a couple of box's on hand. Because I could always stop just about anywhere and pick up more ammo. Now that the situation is hoard hoard hoard I try to keep at least 500 rounds for each caliber on hand.
