How to submit your ideas to Got input 2014

Time is short. Please give your input today.

In the Got INput system, there are three categories for you to choose from:

    1.) DNR ideas –

    See – http://www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/files/fw-Got_Input_dfw_proposals_2014.pdf

    2.) Citizen petitions

The DNR is seeking your comments on petitions already received by the Natural Resources Commission and DNR for additional changes. The topics listed below were brought forward for review via citizen petitions. The Division of Fish & Wildlife would like your input on these topics. They do not reflect the opinion or input from Division of Fish & Wildlife staff.

    1. Allow additional rifle cartridges: Such as the .45-70, .30-30, 7.62 x 54, 7.62 x 39, .223, .243 Winchester, .308 Winchester, .270 Winchester; increase the legal cartridge case length allowable for deer hunting to 2.250 inches in order to make the .444 Marlin and .45-70 Government legal to use.
    2. Allow the sale of squirrel hides (untanned): Squirrel tails are legal to sell but untanned squirrel hides are not.
    3. Add a spring squirrel season: Open a squirrel season in early June (after the spring wild turkey season ends), or from March 15 to April 15.
    4. Allow quail hunting south of U.S. 50 until Jan. 31: As the result of new permanent rule changes governing the quail season, the hunting of bobwhite quail north of Interstate 74 will be prohibited after Dec. 15.
    5. Allow baiting of deer: To assist in more hunters being successful and eliminate accidental or subjective determinations of baiting.

    3.) Your ideas

To give the DNR your ideas on an issue that is not listed, select “your ideas” and choose a category
    from the dropdown list.

    Categories include:

    Bass fishing
    Catfish fishing
    Deer hunting
    Licensing
    Panfish fishing
    Permits
    Small game hunting
    Turkey hunting
    Waterfowl hunting
Anything else (that does not fit into the above categories)
All comments will be gathered and evaluated by DFW staff. All comments are public record.

    The 2014 Deer Hunter Survey

The IDNR has also sent out via mail close to 20,000 Deer Hunter Surveys. The more surveys filled out and returned the better decisions the DNR can make in managing the deer herd. If you received a survey please fill it out and return it in the prepaid envelope.

    Your cooperation is appreciated.
