The land I have permission to hunt is split by a public road. Is it legal to cross that road with my shotgun while hunting?

I always unload it before crossing, but I would like to know the actual law, thanks.

I just went digiing for the law, it just says from or across a public highway..
no distance given for how far .. so you would need to know the limits of the right of way..
    This ^^^

You can shoot right next to a road as long as you are not shooting from or across the roadway or the road right of way. There is an imaginary line X feet from the center of the roadway that is defined (legally defined) as the road right of way, you cannot shoot from/across that as well.

Example: You cannot step off the road and into the side-ditch to fire a shot. Typically the side ditch is still well within the road right of way.

I agree, I also tried to find the law as I have heard 100-200 feet from roadways. I'm pretty sure crossing the road with your gun is okay..just not shooting across the road.
