Illinois lawmaker released on weapons charge

"A veteran Illinois state senator charged with trying to board a flight with a gun and ammunition in a carry-on bag was released on bail Thursday.

A Cook County judge set bond at $25,000 for state Sen. Donne Trotter, who recently announced he was running for Jesse Jackson's old seat in Congress..."

Another 2 faced politician outed. He should be perfect to fill little Jessie's shoes.

Just about posted the write up from Guns and Ammo. Beat me to it.

Just goes to show even the left knows you need to carry. But they are to afraid to speak their mind because they will loose votes.

Most people who have done the same thing find themselves released. Why should it be any different for him? He'll have to go back to court and deal with the consequences of his actions. Same thing happened here in Indiana to one of the republicans and he got off scott free. Why should it be any different for the guy in Illinois?

    Untrue. He did not.

Probably can't hold that political job if he was a convicted felon.

    I'm sorry, what?:dunno:

May I introduce you to Mel "Lotto" Reynolds, a candidate for the 2nd Congressional District of Illinois, convicted of state charges of sexual assault, child porn and obstruction of justice and federal offenses involving bank fraud and lying to the SEC. Lotto is a candidate to be Barack Obama's Congressman (the Second includes Hyde Park and Kenwood).

Oh, please. Hostettler got a slap on the wrist and probation. 60 days that he never had to serve and $122 bucks in court costs. Had no effect on him, other than his lawyer fees and the embarrassment of being an idiot.

And when the guy got caught in Indy he got charged with a misdemeanor and let go on a pocket change bond.

If that ain't scott free I don't know what is.

You gave the impression that he was not prosecuted but in fact he was.

    It's not "scot free".

Cases like these usually result in no real penalty,

Well, we do strive for that result, Mr. J.

Depends on the defendant's record. Depends on the surrounding circumstances (forgot it was there vs. knew it was there). Defendant's level of cooperation, inter alia.

My last gun on a carry on was a withhold prosecution which was dismissed after 5 months. I even got the cop's gun back for him.:D

Still not off the hook, only out on bond. Bet he does get of though. Probably can't hold that political job if he was a convicted felon.

Unbelievable, but true, felons can't own guns, can't vote, but can still hold political office. Only in America folks. Another example some can still remember very clearly: Marian Barry, mayor of Washington DC, had a felony conviction for cocaine use in 1990, served 6 months in federal prison, then served again as mayor from 1995 to 1999.

My problem with it is that he is one of the dem. gun grabbers that want to disarm the "Little People" while he goes his merry way with his pistol.:xmad:
Oh well, I guess if its good enough for dizzy Dianne Feinstein, its good enough for him.
