Well when you are running for cover you'd be surprise what you can get your body to do. It's nothing like the movies. So maybe they're practicing for real life, "comrades forget what you saw or played on X-Box, when the bullets fly this is what will happen". OK stupid Russians makes more sense.

    Looks like polished stone stairs.

Now imagine little skateboard grip tape strips at the edge of each. fun.

Whenever I've seen that before on TV, it was with sleds or cardboard boxes at least.

This. Those stairs were a little more worn down and didn't have hard corners to dig into every part of a body that was in contact with them.

I was really hoping for a solid list of instructors but couldn't find any for this particular training. I Feel it has infinite implications as the best way to strut down mall stairs and let people know I'm an "operator".

Holy cow. I looked at this thread several times and missed the video function. I’m thinking this would feel better in a bullet proof vest, lol. Kind of makes me want to try it! Nah...

Reminds me of years ago sitting in Mkt Sq Arena. Started hearing a coconut bouncing. Turns out it was a guy falling headfirst on his back down the concrete steps, two to a row, from 9 rows up. It was the back of his head smacking the concrete and he didn't miss any steps. He was determined to make last call. They sat on him until medics arrived.

I just want to know when someone local will start offering this practical and often overlooked training so I can sign up

Heck, falling down the steps is one thing that I already have down pat. Now, getting up at the bottom may be a challenge but the older I get, so is getting out of bed every morning.

    Let's see . . .

    1. Perfect stairs with rounded, slipper front ledges.
    2. Young, athletic guys in identical slippery outfits.
    3. No gear at all protruding.

So, let's say you master this technique under the depicted conditions.

How well it work on random stairs? How will it work if you're wearing any reasonable gear you'd be wearing were you embroiled in a tactical superman scenario?

    I get that stairs are a nightmare in terms of tactics, but . . . but . . .

I remember the stairs at my grandma's when I was little... about 50-60 degrees, short steps, 10' first floor, shag carpet, and only about 3' before hitting the opposite wall at the bottom. Won't need to kick off to keep moving on those
