NOTHING hurts like a horse kick. It's a fast, sharp thing. Compared to a cow that's more of a really, really hard push.

On another note I love westerns, but hate how they seldom take care of their horses.

Had a big palamino mare kick me right in the center of my chest when I was about 15. Luckily, there was some room between my back and the stall wall. She hit me, and I hit the wall. Thankfully nothing broken or bleeding but I might have had some serious injuries if she'd pinned me with that kick. Or been about a foot higher with it.

I was never raised around horses, but did have the opportunity to ride them quite a bit when I was a kid. I had it instilled in me back then to always give them wide berth when walking behind them.

Exactly. I have helped friends groom a few of their cows and horses for county and state fairs and their is nothing good that comes from that area right behind a horse. A one leg kick is bad enough but when they do a two leg kick it is generally higher and much more powerful. Lights out time.

That was just a love tap. She got right up afterward and walked away mostly intact. She should be happy she only got a warning.
