I got a good chuckle at the polls today.

    Where's the bacon?
I went in and voted. Showed my little postcard, signed it, showed my ID, got the electronic card and stuck it in the machine. Second screen that popped up was the "straight ticket" screen:

    OK, that makes sense:

    • An eagle for the Republicans...
    • The Statue of Liberty for the Libertarians...
    • And a chicken (or perhaps a "cock"?) for the Democrats.

That surprised me the first time I was an Election Judge, back in the 90s. Apparently the Rooster is an old symbol for the Democrats - possibly from the campaign promise "a chicken in every pot"?

And I thought the Libertarian symbol was supposed to be a dandelion.

No way, the Libertarian symbol is a store full of full auto sbr's that are about $300 a pop because the government isn't messing with the supply side of the pricing.

It doesn't really translate very well to the little digital grey voting machine icon. That's probably why we haven't made more headway.
