I also took it out to the range! Me and my girlfriends brother, Devin, went out, and had a blast. I didn't get any pictures of us shooting, but I did get some video. Photobucket is being hateful, and won't let me upload the video...

I do have some pictures of the gun I just took tonight though!!

Any ways, we got it out there, and we had a blast! We were blasting clay pigeons at 100 yards all day. Target shooting, the gun was bullet on bullet. I was by far the loudest gun at the range, and I probably had the biggest smile at the range too.

I was like a little kid on Christmas opening the box, and seeing all the goodies, the oil can, pouches, cleaning kit, and sling fall out behind the gun. It was magical.

After a small bit of research, I have found the Mosin I have was at the Izhevsk Arsenal post-1938. 1939 if you want to be exact. All the numbers on the gun are matching, with the exception of the bayonet, which I hear is quite common.

Seriously guys, if you are on the line about buying a Mosin, go get one. They are fun, they are loud, and the make BIG holes in targets. These things are a absolute blast to shoot, and it won't break the bank at $0.50 a round. The history behind the gun is awesome, and just thinking it could have been a battle rifle is mind blowing.

You literally own, and get to play with a piece of history. It is awesome. For $120 go buy one. Hell, for $150 go buy one. I might even go balls deep here, and tell you for $200 go buy one. They are that fun of rifles. For the prices these things go for now, you will NOT find another center fire rifle. Especially one as cool as the Mosin. Now, I just need to save some coin to buy another...:ar15::ar15::ar15::ar15:

Little bit or porn for you guys...

I feel like a sucker now for my "no number matches" 91/30 I got for $110. But then again, it has very strong rifling and operates great, so I got what I needed.

Where are you guys finding ammo for these? Aside form Gander prices that make it on par with .223 to shoot, I haven't seen much of the x54R in stock elsewhere and ammo availability and cost was what held me back from jumping on one several months ago. The thought of scoping one up, padding the shoulder and having something with some boom that's also accurate seems like great fun.

Eager to see the video if photopucket comes around or youtube works. It's always a good thing when new gun day and new gun at the range day are one in the same.

The place I bought the rifle had a open spam can they were selling the 20 packs out of. Online you can get spam cans for cheap. Use Google shopping. Really, it works awesome for finding gun stuff.

I am a big fan of Mosin's since Ive got mine. I agree with everyone here that they are a blast to shoot. For what you get, its the best bang for the buck! Once you get one, you want to get all the different variations also. There are many collectors of Mosins nowadays.

I plan on getting at least 3 more. One more natural mosin, one to modify, and a M44. I love these rifles.

Congrats on your new rifle. It will bring years of shooting fun.
