Just remember pine is good for a fire pit, but is bad news for a fireplace. A fast track for a house fire.

I will start my wood stove with pine as it lites off pretty easily. then get the box hot and start using ash or other hard woods. Run the box temp up to warm the house and clear the flu and then control the burn.

And you're doing it correct. Its the folks that try burning the stuff regularly and dont keep the fire hot and well vented causing heavy creosote buildup that are the problem. Its surprising how many people think wood is wood is wood and it doesnt matter what you burn.

FREE is the problem. Whenever you post free, it has no value and no incentive for most (I do like free and would rather keep a source of free stuff happy!)
