The knife is a really well designed knife that is reportedly very poorly made.

Supposedly a newer version of the knife was released that corrects some of the problems with the earlier construction (pommel falling off!), but I've yet to see a review of the new version so its anyone's guess if the new version exists or if it is better.

I have seen a lot of complaints about that knife. I don't own one, but everything I've read has convinced me to never purchase one no matter what the price.

I haven't read too many good reviews either. On Bladeforums this this was bashed and made fun of constantly.

I remember seeing a pic of someone using the knife to chop a branch and the hammer flew off, and the plastic handle broke.

I think the first ones had quality issues, but Gerber realized this and stepped up their quality, they said to send in any broken or less than satisfactory knives in and they'd take care of them.

    Here's a testing thread:

Review Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Knife

It's kind of long, so if you want to read everything, it'll take some time.

Or the fresh honey straight from the bee hive.

    That's good stuff!

    Raw honey is awesome :yesway:.
As far as the BG knife, it definitely seems like a turd. I think bare minimum for a survival knife is a full tang. Some of the features on it seem interesting, but I think it would take away from the functionality of the unit as hard use tool. A Becker doesn't run much more than that, or spend a little more for an ESEE FTW.
