Those things are always a sales scam.

    FPNI.

One of the best small flashlights are the ones Harbor Freight gives away for free!

I'm glad your experience was better than mine. I've been through 4 of them and would be pissed if I had paid anything. And I learned the hard way that their fancy drill bits suck! Haven't been to HF in probably two years. The Stanley set of bits I bought at Menard's did cost more but are way better and save me a lot of frustration.

OP: Look into Fenix flashlights. You'll not be disappointed.

Yep. I think I have 4 Fenix lights now. A UC01 keychain light, a PD25UE, PD35, and my most recent one is a PD32 2016 edition. All are awesome. Also have a few FourSevens and a Couple O-Lights that are really nice as well.

As to the batteries good rechargeables 18650, 14500, 16340 and the like can be rather expensive. But I doubt a crappy light like that could handle a high output battery like those and survive long.

Sorry you got taken for a ride, but glad to hear you got it nixed.

Guideman is a good brand of flashlight that you can get at Menards. $10-$100 and come in pretty high lumen options.

I'll have to say "Don't buy" the Guideman. I have 2 of them. They usually work but occasionally you have to "smack 'em around" a bit to get them to come on and stay on.
I loved them when they worked right. BUT... I don't expect SureFire quality at 20% of the price either.

My wife ordered 2 of these bell Howell flashlights for me for an anniversary gift. We got them yesterday. We only played with them last night but I was impressed. The charges were $29.xx. when zoomed in and focused down, they put that square shape on whatever you shine it at. It was easily doing 50+ yards. Hopefully they last a while. They currently reside in our bedside tables.

It always amazes that when people do something stupid they run to the internet, to compound their error, and tell everyone about it...LOL. :)

Yeah, don't call, if you have a momentary lack of judgment hang up before they get your CC info; then have a cocktail and forget about it.

You cannot further brotherhood of a man by inciting class hatred.

I bet you "LOL" when you hear about someone making the same mistake you did.

I am man enough to stand up and say I made a mistake. I hope you will not.

I had several from H. F.. they all fell apart.
The best was free from Menard.
    They are Rugged and bright.
I just do not like the battery module, three "AAA" in a module.
The contacts corrode making the flashlight useless.
    I got two different types.
A large one with 14 LEDs using the 3 AAA batteries.
The smaller ones with 1 LED and uses 1 AA.
The smaller one is a lot brighter.
Menard's also gave away 12 LED lanterns.

The problem is the 3 AAA did corrode.
I have them placed around my house for emergency access/use.
I was looking to replace them with the ones that pulse also.
I have a few of the Harbor Freight compact LED flashlights and have for years. They all work. To be totally honest though, I haven't deep fried one or dropped one from a helicopter!:):
I wouldn't depend my life on one, but for free, they do fine.

I stopped in Menard's to check out their "LED" flashlights.
I found a blister pack of two 600 lumen with batteries for $24.99.
They zoom from broad to narrow beam.
They are also selling general purpose flashlights for $0.99, (wooden trimmed) after discount.
    Plus their 11% discount.
The 600 lumen have a 6 AAA module.
The $0.99 are 80 lumen take a 2 AA inline (not included).

Last night before the moon came up.
I tested the 600 Lumen light.
I normally watch Animals in my back yard.
    I used a 6v Incandescent spotlight.
I have 250 yards from my house to the very back tree line.
About 5/8 of the way is a decorative windmill.
With the old spotlight I could just see the windmill clearly.
With the new flashlight I can see the tree line brightly.

I went over to my grandparents on Saturday night and they had one of the lights on their table... I asked my grandpa if he bought it, but he just laughed and said no way. So and so bought some and gave one to me. I flipped it on and played with it a bit. I was not impressed at all my little pen light in my pocket did way more than that thing ever would.

Can get the same or brighter lights on amazon for cheaper. I have. Ought several of the Cree lights that use the 18650 batteries. Very rugged for the price and bright. They claim 1000 lumens. I wouldn't go that far, but will light up a big walnut tree in my backyard like it is daylight.

    I just stopped into Menards.
There hanging on the rack marked "Seen on TV".
There hanging for the price of $19.99 is the Infamous "Tach-light".
All the same claims. NO mention of LUMINS.
    Reading the information sheet inside.
    $10.00 to honor the Guarantee/Warrenty.

Ia few Nightstick NSP2242's I got from work. Dual light and bright enough to inspect freight cars at zero dark thirty. I keep an extra at home for around the house.
