You think your buddy is trying to screw you? Take it for a test drive would be my advice I guess. With your friend....Seems to me that would be far more valuable than my opinion. I'm probably not very good at this internet stuff.

They're a good entry level rifle. If you can get one at a good price go for it.

A .308 is good to have. Mossberg isnt the top of the line option but it is a good brand. I have one of their shotguns and its great

Mossberg MVPs are copies of the Raptor action and as such are junk stem to stern.
