Tonight I accidentally slammed the lid to my GE washing machine. Now all I get is the screen flashing "LID" and it won't proceed to the wash cycle. I don't see anything broken or out of place, but it refuses to do anything. Anyone got any suggestions?

This site says unplug machine for 60 seconds, plug it in and open and close lid 6x in 30 seconds.

If that doesn't work probably either dislodged the switch or broke a plastic tab.

I have nothing to offer other than I am SO GLAD I have kept the old stuff without the "computer chip ****" running.

Many have been the times when a guy would tell me it would be "cheaper and easier" to replace what could fixed with a "new and improved", but the old analog keeps on running like a top!

Hell, my old stove and oven from the mid 50s still runs more evenly and consistently than most I know!
