I bought a 2000 chevy tracker a year ago from my sister. I paid 1000 bucks for it.

Since then I have put almost 2000 in parts into it.
Alternator, battery, battery terminals, front crossmember, 2x 100 dollar bushings when I did the crossmember. Crossmember was chevys fault, they had "special coverage" on it but would not cover me b/c it has a rebuild title.

Now my EGR valve goes bad, and everywhere wants 300 DOLLARS?!?!? WTF?!?!? Who the hell do they think they are?!? This is complete and utter ********. My tracker to me is barely worth the gas and matches to burn it down anymore.

Boycott chevy, they can suck the big one for all I care.

Signed, a dedicated ANYTHING BUT CHEVY fan.

Of course, I'm sure you realize that although it is sold and marketed as a Chevy, what you erally have is a Suzuki . All foreign cars are cheap to buy but expensive to repair.

Oh yeah, regardless of the maker, don't you think it is a little silly to condemn any car company in general because of problems with an old, cheap car that has a salvage title?:n00b:

A thousand dollar, salvaged titled "ANYTHING" is probably going to be a headache to keep running.

Anyway I've always had good luck with the Chevy's I have owned:

    1965 Chevy II, 1968 Chevy II, 1970 Monte Carlo, 1980 Camaro, 1986 Camaro, 1987 Silverado, 1992 Cavalier, 1995 Silverado & 2006 Malibu.

I am still driving the 95 Silverado & 06 Malibu, aside from having to replace the starter solenoid on the Silverado a few years ago they have been trouble free.

No, its not like that, The fact the welds gave in the crossmember IS chevy's fault, hire a person to weld, I don't trust robots. I chose to buy the truck, and I made a bad decision apparently. Chevrolet Tracker Rusted Crossmember Subframe - CarSpace Automotive Forums I'm not the only one to deal with the crossmember. BTW, the REAR was what was damaged.

I'm bitching about my money outflow on my car. It doesn't matter what kind of car it is, if it's a POS people need to know not to buy one.

Yes, rebuilds are a headache to keep running, but seriously my escort was un-rebuilt, (meaning I rolled it for 2 years damaged) and it ran better than this thing.

Either way, I know I'll never buy chevy again.

Call me an ass or childish if you want. Drop 2 grand in a year to keep a car going and feel the pain.

Thank you for the discussion gents, Sorry to be a little girl, but I'm done. I guess I have to just take in the ___ as usual.

Wait a minute, you are still blaming the WRONG mfg.

Look I sort of feel sorry for you, well not really I am just being nice, but you bought a car that was a rebuild, that is also a rebranded Suzuki, how in the hell can you blame Chevrolet.

You bought something because it was cheap, how long do expect a $1000 vehicle to last. And why didn't you research that models known issues and quirks on the interweb.

I just can't feel sorry for folks that make mistakes like you made, sorry.

Yeah, I'm wrong. Its a suzuki and I needed a cheap car that was not wrecked. Or so I thought. I should have researched and yadda yadda, but whatever. I'm growing up, scratch one for experience I guess.

And to be clear, now that I am calm, over the shock of a 300 part. I was trying to complain more about the price of the parts, than the reliability of the car really. I could care less if it broke down once a month, If i wasn't paying multiple hunderds every time, just for the parts. I do my own work, so the money is all parts, my time is almost worthless at this point in my life.

So I'm sorry big craig, SUZUKI is the blowhards, Chevy is just guilty by association/rebranding. Put your name on someone elses product, and expect to catch thier poo when it comes flying.

Anyone up for an auto shoot when I get a new car? No one needs to go through more of what I have gone through with this car. I'm a kind soul like that lol.

Maybe the obamassiah will run the chevy production on Tues, Wed, and Thurs only as we all know that you don't want a car built on Monday or Friday.

Well ive driven a 1990 Chevy Astro with 350k miles, all original internals, just regular maintenance (but sold due to the fact that it was a 1990 Astro with 350k miles :):). A 1988 1500 with 116k that still runs like a top (all original, was my grandpas truck and ill be passing it to my son). I'm used to be a die hard Chevy fan until they sold out to the government. Now im switching over to Fords.

However that said the V8 Chevy Camaro will beat the pants off the fastest stock Mustang or Challenger , so I may be buying one in the not to distant future. :rockwoot::yesway:

On that note my family has had very bad experiences with Ford, from broken axles (just driving down the road and she broke), engine problems, transmission problems. Also I cant stand how rough the Fords ride when pulling a trailer cross country.

I dated I don't know how many women before I got married and you know what?? They were all trouble of one kind or another... even the one I married! They leave the toilet seat down. Buy this little "sanitary" items. Get all cranky about dirty socks on the floor.

Well, THAT'S IT, you can't bet I'll never...

    Wait...

    Never mind. :)

Not to take anything at all away from qualified, certified welders here, but the reason the entire auto industry has more or less universally gone to robot welding is because:

    1) Consistency
    2) Speed
    3) Cost

Unfortunately for us humans, welding is one area that in many cases, a robot can do better than we can.

What a robot cannot do, however, is compensate for a poor design or specification of the wrong materials. Both of those came from the the human interface in the design of the truck itself.

Sorry that you've got a money pit...hope you can find a way to put it to rest, say with maybe a few thousand rounds of ammunition through her? :ar15::biggun: Burning with gasoline is so Medeival, unless you had a flame thrower or some Napalm in mind. :flamethrower:

you want sticker shock on parts..buy a dodge and hope nothing goes wrong with it. I had a 2003 dodge ram 1500 and within 2,000 miles that I had it the tranny failed, after replacing that for $3k my 4 wheel drive went out and it leaked oil like a son of a beotch out of every seal it had. I traded it in on another dodge:):

I had a 1997 Chevy Blazer and it was being fixed all the time. After a lot of money poured down the drain I went to an H3 Hummer. Better mileage, absolutely no problems of any kind, and it goes through anything. And.... the best part is, it was cheaper than a new Chevy truck or SUV.

I can't say enough about this vehicle. It's all been good.
