I wonder if you eliminated all threads/posts that are at all related to politics (most any having to do with the news certainly), eliminated all of them that have been addressed previously (those of you that have been around awhile know what I am talking about), and those that are ... well you know what I mean, how many would be left. It would be interesting I think. We probably wouldn't have needed to change servers.

    ................intended .

    In summary ,

I'd leave it alone . Nobody is forced to read any political threads and if the forum is disposed of entirely I think much discussion will be lost .

    ..............

    Pretty much this. /\

Bob goes to the doctor with a pain in his arm:
(bob) "Hey doctor.... it's hurts when I bend my arm....."
(doctor) "Bob, STOP bending your arm...."

Moral of the story, no one is bending your arm to read the politics and laws section... don't click the link... if you click then complain you have no one to blame but yourself.

Remember when you point your finger at someone you have 3 fingers pointing back at yourself.

Where is the Thick Skin for sale thread? :dunno:

Leave it as is please. Or if you choose split in 2 subs. Please do not dispose of in its entirety however. :twocents:

No one has a right to not be offended. This site is politically correct enough as it is. This post has already been heavily self-censored. Just say No to an INGO "Fairness Doctrine". No to any further censorship.

    In the trenches for liberty!
How do you think this site can function better in terms of our Politics, Laws, 2A forum. We get a lot of complaints in there.

What if we were to break the Politics forum into 2 different forums

    The Second Amendment / RKBA

Local / National Politics and Legislation

Or what if we were to do away with Local / National Politics and Legislation discussion altogether and limit it to 2A/RKBA. I see a lot of gun boards to it this way to eliminate all the trouble.

    Your thoughts please :ingo:

Honestly Fenway, I think that the recipe you have now is a good one. INGO continues to grow membership. I think while guns may draw most here, it is the other parts of INGO that keeps them coming back.
If it isn't broke, why fix it?

I voted to restrict it to RKBA topics only. It seems (IMHO only) that the majority of the topics in that subforum are paranoid, tin-foil hat types of posts about how "the man" is going to get us or some radical group is plotting against us. I think the site would be better served if only topics related to RKBA issues and legislation were allowed. But, nobody is forcing me to go in there if things are kept as they are. I also see where it would add one more thing (policing topics) for the Mods to deal with on top of an ever-increasing membership to keep up with.

I don't see a need to change anything. How is the current format a real problem? Whatever is done, big changes, little changes, no change - somebody won't like it and will act like it's the end of the earth.

Some other guy was talking about 'change'........

Ok, how about we keep it fair then? No underhanded "change" comments unless it's in the Politics section. No classified ads about how you paid 3x what ammo was worth because Obama got elected. Everyone acts like the political talk only exists in the Politics section. For that matter, how about no political signatures? I mean, if all of you are happy with the Politics section the way it is, and we don't have to read it then let's truly keep it in there. Now obviously this is unreasonable and I wouldn't truly lobby for this, but PLEASE don't act like that crap shouldn't bother the liberal few that are here and choose to stay out of the Politics section because it's everywhere.

Actually you have probably lurched into the problem the mods would face if a complete ban was invoked on any and all political commentary. Could you imagine the effort required, the threatening, banning, angering to stamp out all of those comments that many of us probably would not even notice or think about.

So here we go. The tread was pretty civil until the liberals crawl out of the woodwork like roaches. The Liberals that preach tolerance, but only on their terms. If I can't say Obama sucks anywhere I want on this forum including my Sig line for fear of it offending some Liberal then I don't want to be on this forum. That would be a dark place indeed. Sort of like the Socialist dark place we are being led to now in the country. But this isn't the thread to rant about such things.

I don't think it will come to that. This has been a great forum. And the only thing that was up for discussion Politics, Laws and 2nd Amendment forum, not how some delicate sensitive Liberal is easily offended everyplace on the fourm. Lets get back to the original topic.

Guess you missed the part where I said "Now obviously this is unreasonable and I wouldn't truly lobby for this". And I never said anything about you not being able to say it. And when did it turn uncivil? I was making a point, and by your reaction I think I was dead on! Should I call you Conservative snake? I mean, obviously I'm a roach because I displayed a different point of view. And that was my point in its entirety. You state in your response that liberals preach tolerance, but only on our terms when you're obviously doing the same thing! All I was doing was saying that it exists across the entire board, not just buried in the politics section. And again, "Now obviously this is unreasonable and I wouldn't truly lobby for this". Do you see how quickly this gets out of control? I think someone was selling thick skin a few pages back...

Because I'm trying to encourage discussion among the female population regarding firearm ownership. I believe it is important to this gun board.

    I'm not saying it's not important, I'm saying it's a vague topic.

Politics, laws, and Second Amendment is at least more narrow.

If a broader subject can have only one forum, why not a vastly narrower set of topics?

It would be a shame to throw out the baby with the bathwater. For a lot of us, this is the only source of discussion on the politics that affect us, local and national.

    ...

    Well said, Sir.

This is my online hang out... I don't view the site by each 'room' or forum that is created. I could care less if all of the posts were in one big room (but I see the utility behind the design, and know some people surf the site that way).

I appreciate the freedom to discuss "whatever" on the site. If a split would help reduce the complaint noise, then BY ALL MEANS, do it. I'd hate to see discussion limited here... that might be the beginning of the end IMHO.

i would keep it the way it is, but split it if you feel so inclined. i think the mods do a good job of cleaning up, though i admit i dont spend a whole lot of time in that subforum.

i see lots of stuff i dont agree with, but i am a firm believer of "the dont click it if it offends you" concept

I think we should leave it the way it is...

If you must change it, go ahead and split into two forums.

Some days I dive into the political stuff, other days, I don't feel like it. So, I don't. But I like having the option.

If INGO were just limited to only gun discussions, membership would drop fast.

    I vote for "No Change".

If the Politics forum was to be removed, then shouldn't the rest of the General Interests be removed also?

It doesn't take that long to go through the threads in that section.....If you don't have the time to go through them, you probably don't have time to participate anyways!:dunno:
