That's pretty noble, criminal or not. If they do lethal injection, doesn't this effectively ruin the organs?

I really don't know, this is why I'm asking.

    Hello,

It depends really. Some "premix" does, and some does not. The type in regular use most of the time does. Certain lethal injection does not, nor does most gas, or many other forms. It can be done preserving the organs they might just have to change the method or whatever for that case.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

If I were dying of liver failure, I would accept a liver from an inmate. Who are these doctors and "rule makers" who say that a death row inmante can't donate his organs?

It should be left up to the patient.

At the rate we execute death row inmates, this will free up what?

    10 livers a year? 20? 30?

whatever. Makes no difference to me either way.

It would if you or a family member ever wind up on the waiting list for a donated organ.

20 livers, 20 hearts, 40 eyes, kidneys, tissue, and multitudes of other things... Thats hundreds of lives changed for the better with many of those saved!

    Thanks,

Well if an inmate wants to donate his organs, and hell even his body to science. Why waste the lethal injection, gas, what have you and just sedate, crack open and harvest everything and be done with it. Once the heart, lungs, kidney, etc have been removed I'm pretty sure death will be quick and under sedation would be humane. But thats just how I feel about it.

Very true but they are complaining about how much all the currently accepted methods cost.. we could also go back to the guillotine.

    Hello,

Low cost, but I bet if someone was going to get a free organ that most familys would help pay for the death.. Morbid but true.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

Wow. What a fantastic attitude! :yesway:

I guess since it doesn't matter to you, the guy waiting on a new organ to continue living (or the 20? 30? people waiting) doesn't matter, either.

Would insurance companies treat this as a "generic" organ? Would it arrive in a plain white package with a bar code and the word LIVER? Would the hospital where the organ was harvested put their name on the package like a can of Kroger's Brand Corn? The possibilities seem endless, if just a tad gross.
