If I didn't have my current guns, I think I would go with a Sig M11-a1.

with what I have now... For under $1000 is tough... Maybe one the new P225-a1 models.

$1000 in my pocket just to blow? Today? Probably build up an 870 tactical. Wouldn't mind a Speingfield RO champion in 9mm or the new 4" EMP

I'm kinda thinking about a CZ Scorpion...but if I do, I want to SBR it, etc. so, that would shoot it past $1000.

Hi Point 9 or 40 pistol and carbine. Get nicer things later.

That would serve in most situations.

Nice 1911 if you are worried about what others will say.

A M1 Garand is definitely on my to buy list one day. Not for any real practical purpose, but to remind me of a friend who loved the gun so much that he had 5 of them. I remember showing him my first handgun when I bought it (a service model xd 45)and he invited me over his house to show me his huge collection of firearms. It was definitely a privilege to go through his collection with him and listen to him tell me stories for hours about why he bought each gun (he had well over 50). He then informed me that I was the only one besides family to see his collection. I felt really honored by that and he was a great friend that I sorely miss(he passed away a few years ago). So although it's not something I plan on buying in the next two years. It may be the first gun I actually buy just to own and display.
