Meg Whitman makes case on how she's different - SFGate

This governors race in California does not affect us here in Indiana ...
This is for illustration / example only .

The big R next to her name is what she has affiliated herself with .

    :patriot:

She states she is different .

Supports abortion with public money .

    Supports weapons bans.

Is she that different from Arnold ?

    :patriot:

Is she what the Republican party represents ?

Do you think that the " New Republicans " getting elected in the fall of 2010 will be any different ?

Will they roll back government and taxes ?

She took eBay to the top of the world, and then dumped it to the maggots.

What makes you think she won't do that at her next job?

I'd vote for her. Mainly because I've been waiting patiently for more Arnold movies.

Finally Kindergarten Cop 2 can become a reality.

Party affiliation shouldn't mean anything to anyone. Research the candidate. Of course, if someone is running as a "Nazi" some alarms should be going off. I don't care about Republicans or Democrats.

I'm voting Sink-Burris, because of her policies, not her party.

Party affiliation shouldn't mean anything to anyone. .

    It means everything.

Voting for a pro-gun Democrat is more anti-gun than voting for an anti-gun Republican. Why? Because a pro-gun Democrat will help create a Democrat majority, which will give the committee majorities and leadership to people who are anti-gun. And, when push comes to shove, even the pro-gun Democrat will often vote anti under party discipline.

In our political system, party trumps person.

Unless that person has huge balls and a stiff spin and doesn't mind being left off of committees and only being allowed to vote.

That holds true unless you can vote in enough "pro-gun" democrats to make the majority of Democratic party members "pro-gun".

The issues are much more than just "pro-gun" or "anti-gun" to me though, and I know you feel the same. I just want someone who is "pro-freedom", as I believe you do too. I still think you should be running for something based on your political beliefs you laid out a while back.

It's just that the vote itself is a formality. The committees are where everything happens.

Indeed, all the votes are lined up before it's ever called on the floor. However, one vote still counts the same as the next, so if you want to vote against your party to keep them from having a super majority, you are more powerful than the committee.

That is until they begin to threaten you and your family.

I was just using the pro-gun position as an illustration of why I think party trumps person.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Two issues with me running: skeletons and the lack of a pleasant enough disposition to spend it shaking hands and circulating at cocktail parties to raise money.;)

I live in a conservative district in Colorado. If I ran for state legislature, it would have to be as a Libertarian or independent. If elected, I would have no power except to vote no a lot. Might be fun, though.
