Yes I finally did it after 1 1/2 years of owning my property and perpetually working on it, I'm now a Hoosier.

So after looking at the FAQ (I know: crazy there is a FAQ!) I'm wondering how long I need to wait (If any) before applying for my LTCH?

I'm no expert, but I would think that as long as you have lived in Indiana long enough to get your drivers license and meet the resident requirements, you would be good.

I don't think you really read the FAQ. ;)

I'm moving to Indiana. How do I "establish residency"? (In other words, what act will make my permit from elsewhere no longer valid?)

    IC 9-13-2-78
    Indiana resident
Sec. 78. "Indiana resident" refers to a person who is one (1) of the following:
    (1) A person who has been living in Indiana for at least one hundred eighty-three (183) days during a calendar year and who has a legal residence in another state. However, the term does not include a person who has been living in Indiana for any of the following purposes:
    (A) Attending a postsecondary educational institution.
    (B) Serving on active duty in the armed forces of the United States.
    (2) A person who is living in Indiana if the person has no other legal residence.

    (3) A person who is registered to vote in Indiana.

    (4) A person who has a child enrolled in an elementary or a secondary school located in Indiana.

    (5) A person who has more than one-half (1/2) of the person's gross income (as defined in Section 61 of the Internal Revenue Code) derived from sources in Indiana using the provisions applicable to determining the source of adjusted gross income that are set forth in IC 6-3-2-2. However, a person who is considered a resident under this subdivision is not a resident if the person proves by a preponderance of the evidence that the person is not a resident under subdivisions (1) through (4).

    (6) A person who:
    (A) is enrolled as a student of a truck driver training school;
    (B) has legal residence in another state but is living in Indiana temporarily for the express purpose of taking a course of study from the truck driver training school; and
    (C) intends to return to the person's state of residence upon completion of the course of study of the truck driver training school.

You should also remember that the second you have residency in Indiana, your out-of-state carry license is no longer recognized in Indiana.

Scutter, you are correct. I only read the FAQ's on the LTCH and not the residency part.

Illini40: I'm registered to vote, therefore a resident and no further wait to apply. I was Just looking for affirmation before I start, only to find you have to wait however long.

If you're registered to vote here, then you're a resident. Go get your LTCH!

    Really?

Shouldn't he start thread after thread about ways to attempt to get around the LTCH?

What if his pet goat carries his gun, does he still need the license?

What if his third cousin, a town marshal in Gnawbone, told him something else?

What if this was like Texas and he could just walk down the street with the gun on his hip?

"Objection, Your Honor! Counsel is leading the witness in an obvious attempt to induce him to violate Kirk's First Law, thereby ensuring delivery to himself of yet another case of .45 "

We'll change this to a timeline:
Feb 13th, 8:30am applied online & scheduled L1 fingerprinting for Feb 14th, 11AM and paid the state $75.
Feb 13th, 2:00pm County sheriff calls and says everything is square come in when you have the fingerprints done. (and don't forget $50)

    The saga continues.
Feb 14th: Went to Meet the L1 People for my 11 am appointment. They didn't show! Called L1, rescheduled for Hammond, drove there got them done.
Life hands you lemons.....so make lemonade.
Stopped at Blythe's on the way home and scored a very lightly used Kahr PM9 with night sites! (Got something to carry now)

-1 for L1 Contractor not showing up and L1 Failing to notify me
+1 For Blythe's for the Smokin' deal on the PM9!

Go the electronic fingerprint route, will speed up your LTCH process. I got mine done in June, total of 13 days till it arrived.

On edit: Didn't see that you already had it arrive. congrats!!!! Looks like they have sped up the process from June. Though I know our County was getting a ton of them last summer.
