I suspect that he is hated in whatever forum/group membership that he belongs to. Sounds like he freely gives his uneducated opinion about what he has heard; not experienced...God, I hate this younger generation!

Ask him if he'd like to join us for the carry match at Parabellum and impress us with his "skills" :) It's always a humbling experience for first timers.
If he finishes in the top five I'll happily pay his entry fee.

    Bingo.

Friend of my SIL had the same line of Bravo Sierra for m when we took him to the range with us. Friendly competition developed from his rants and he was seriously humbled by some of those outdated antiques.

I was young and dumb once. Heck, I hope to never stop learning but I also need to be honest with myself. I'm not 20 years old anymore and inching towards obsolescence.

Gray hair used to be a crown of glory not so long ago. Now it seems code for young people that means "Don't listen to anything this person says."

    I remember an eloquent explanation:
Wisdom and experience can only be gained by time and doing many things (sometimes not even then). Young people don't have the time and doing many thing under their belt. Our cultural youth focus tells them "If you don't have it, it's not important." So we get "adults" trying to give 16-year-olds and children the vote. Since old people have wisdom and experience, it must not be worth that much.

Just a few years ago, I got told by a job headhunter that because I was "over 40", that I should be retired by now.
When I was just out of college, I was rejected because I didn't have enough experience.
Now I have lots of experience and they tell me I'm too old.

I saw a program recently where a Private in the Army was in charge of one of our M1 Abrams tank as the main Gunner .
The program stated that this position usually requires a little more extensive training and usually justifies a soldier with a quite higher rank .
The reason this soldier was so good at this position was related to his " Gaming " experience . ...Maybe the reason for the " Call Of Duty " guy .
Did I miss what he considers the wonder weapon.

The gunner is not in charge of the tank. He is the one who can ride inside, for mile after mile, without throwing up.

And during my time. I had great respect for my grandparents along with aunts and uncles, and some older volunteers at work. They seemed to know the most efficient way to do anything. Dignity, experience, and they cared about me.

    Anecdotal evidence. (AKA personal account)

AFAIK, each generation has rebelled in their own ways.

For instance, how exactly do you think those big white wigs became so popular in Louis the XVI's court?

I can't tell you what job skills you lean from video games, but we see a steady stream of '20 somethings' through the company that want a 'Cool Job' at a race car company with ZERO job skills...
After about a month they complain endlessly about how 'Boring' the shipping department is, every one of them thinks they will start as a professional driver at races or be CEO in a week...

Now, keep in mind these people will reach in and try to pull the curls off a drill bit in motion, they will walk behind a fork lift in motion, they will stick fingers in a metal sheer or bending press...
The box stapler is a deadly weapon in the shipping department with them around, but they *Think* they should be in command, when they can't get the correct label on a shipping box.

I *ASSUME* nothing when I hire, trade school or collage exempt.
If the guy says he's a welder, then he goes into the welding box and he proves it.
If he says he's a machinist, then we go out to the milling machine or lathe and he proves it.
It's usually a good sign when someone shows up to a job interview with safety glasses & work shoes and takes the drug screen immediately...
That's a guy ready to go to work and not some stone that would rather be playing video games.

    Anyway,
First, there will never be a replacement for boots on the ground. Period.
Until someone builds an android that replaces a combat grunt, it will be grunts on the ground in those boots.

Second, until a 'Star Trek' "Phaser" gets invented, it's going to be firearms on the battle field... No matter what slight adaptations some random company makes.
It's pointless to argue with someone that doesn't realize that no matter if the firearm is made from plastic, aluminum, ceramics or steel, its still limited to the same restrictions of psychics that every other firearm is limited to.

    Tactics will change, evolve.
The warrior is the weapon, firearms are just tools...

When you attempt to "Child Proof" the world, you get stupid adults...
Pinched & burned fingers is how you learn NOT to stick your fingers to a hot pot or in a door jam.

Bad judgment leads to good judgment, which people call 'Common Sense'.

I still see people (adults) hold something in one had, and and a power drill in the other...
And then can't figure out why they got a hole in the 'something' hand when they drill THROUGH the 'something' (and their hand).

I saw a guy trying to basically chisel on a little piece of plastic with a screwdriver last week...
And you guessed it, the plastic he was chiseling on IN HIS LEFT HAND gave way and he punched a hole in his finger.
He blamed the screwdriver he was using as a chisel. (Insert eye roll here.)

A week down the road, I'm wondering if he learned anything... (Probably not)
And this is the generation that think us older folks are 'Obsolete'...

I'm not saying I don't make mistakes, quite the contrary.
I don't blame the tools, and I make a mental note NOT to do it again...
Oh, and I get a chisel for a chisel job, I use a screwdriver for a screwdriver job, and I check my backstops before shooting or drilling...
I don't put my hand behind the target before I shoot or drill! ;)

People blow a fuse when we have young mentor students using power tools, but those kids won't be drilling through their hands anytime soon!

    And shooting, don't forget shooting...
It's the end of the world when they teach kids to show respect for firearms, learn how to safely handle firearms, and to safely enjoy firearms sports.

Never mind they are at Boy Scout camp under adult supervision, with qualified experts teaching the classes...
Instead of running the streets, down loading porn or doing drugs...
After all, learning to build lopsided bird houses leads to eternal damnation! ;)

I foresee one day hitting the X ring multiple times with a 1911 because my phaser battery died.
