    Imagine if...

You could speak and write completely freely, without any fear of getting fired, banned, or arrested.

You could peaceably assemble with like-minded protesters without worrying about obtaining proper government issued permits.

You could truly petition our government for a redress of grievances without being investigated or labeled an "extremist".

You could walk into your local gun store, purchase a fully-automatic 10/22 for $300.00 total, while carrying your favorite self-defense handgun on your hip without any Federal or State infringements.

You could actually feel secure in your home or car from any form of unreasonable government searches and seizers and if our law enforcers had to get specific warrants through probable cause to search the citizens of the United States.

You could feel at ease, when the police interviewed you, instead of feeling tricked into testifying against yourself so that they can charge you with a crime and lock you in a cell.

You could sleep soundly at night knowing that your property cannot be taken away from you, lawfully, for any amount of compensation that you do not feel is just.

    Trails were speedy.

Excessive bail wasn't applied, nor ridiculous fines imposed for ridiculous crimes, such as being fined $250,000.00 or serving five years in a Federal
prison for making a copy of a movie you purchased.

Our own Constitution wasn't used by deceiving politicians to deny other rights the people of the United States are born with, rights not listed in our founding documents, but equally as important to our lives and our way of life as Americans. The right to breathe, right to eat, right to travel, etcetera, are just as important as the right to speak freely or the right to defend yourself, even if they aren't mentioned in any documents or State codes.

Our States retained the power they were intended to have.

Imagine if you could start up a business in your garage without getting your property rezoned, without getting the county to sign off on your driveway as being handi-cap accessible, without getting a license from the State.

Imagine if you could open up a shop manufacturing firearm receivers or automobile parts without playing the waiting game and paying for (with time and money) government licenses so you can make money and pay more taxes.

Imagine if you could grow marijuana, a natural growing weed, along side your corn and sell it to people who have no room, time, or patience to grow corn or marijuana, without fear of being labeled a "drug dealer" and thrown in jail, being stripped of your rights as an American.

Imagine if our government thanked us for our tax donations and put it to good use, making our country a better place, instead of telling us to give more because they need a pay increase to pay off their 5 houses and both yachts. Imagine if all political parties simply served the people of the United States and worked to preserve our Constitution instead of dividing our people, fooling us into believing we are the problem.

Imagine the freedom, prosperity, and innovation that would pour out of this country if our government simply did what the Constitution told them to do and stayed out of our way.

We currently must purchase from our own government, a government that was formerly one - of the people, by the people, for the people, a license to drive on the roads we pay for, a license plate to drive each vehicle we own, a license to carry a firearm in most states, a permit to assemble, a license to sell firearms, alcohol, or tobacco, the crop that helped establish our nation. We must obtain a license to get married, and can only marry a partner of the opposite sex, because the government says so. They can and often do deny citizens these licenses as well as regulating "drinking ages", "driving ages", and "smoking ages". They take our money to pay for public schools, even if we have no children attending those schools. They take our money to pay for metal detectors in government buildings, so they can infringe on our right to keep and bear arms, effectively.

They won't stop on their own. They will continue to attack our freedom, steal our money, and tell us to shut up and cough up some more, while we say "Thank you sir" to the officer who pulled us over for no good reason, other than to shine his flashlight in our vehicle. Our rights won't rise up and restore themselves. This country wasn't always so soft on tyrants.

I'm angry about having to pay people to take away my freedom and destroy our Bill of Rights.

I hope the example our founders set for us will take root, before these "leaders" wipe away our historical founding from our government approved history books at our government-run public school system. I hope their revolution wasn't a waste of their time and lives, and that our people will come together to restore our Constitutional Republic.

November could be our last chance at peaceful recourse, but don't go soft if the Republicans take seats. All politicians have to be watched and tightly controlled. If the people want a government of the people, by the people, for the people, then the people must actively participate in government, always.

Soon the only right we will have is the right to remain silent & even that one will eventually be revoked when the coercive interrogative act of 2025 is passed.

Welcome to the future, where everything not prohibited is compulsory.

Well said. I am out of rep, but that is most certainly a rep-worthy post.

I have only one disagreement: in MANY cases, the people ARE the problem. I have been debating for years with a man I went to high-school with who insists that Socialism is the answer, the government needs to step in and control the economy, and that redistribution of wealth is permissible so everyone can be on a level playing field. That's just the tip of the iceberg with him! It's this kind of anti-Freedom ideal that is pervading the nation, and it needs to be combated at every possible instance.

Those kinds of people are terrible for our country, indeed. I completely agree, but if their representatives simply said "Sorry, America isn't mob ruled. See this document, it's our Constitution and it says that I cannot legislate the way you want me to. Sorry, my hands are tied." it would solve a whole lot of problems too.

I don't know what it is about some people, why or how they don't wish for freedom is completely beyond me. They are unAmerican at best, and crazy at worst.

Agreed. I will debate once every six months or so. Any more than that and my brain will explode from the unAmerican BS. My personal favorite is "I would leave the US in an instant---BUT I have family here so I won't". :n00b::rolleyes: On more than one occassion I've told them to GTFO if they don't like it here. "Oh, but, I WOULD! BUT, I have family here, so I can't. This country so totally SUCKS!". A man can stick his head in the microwave of stupidity known as Socialism only so long before his head starts to cook then explode. I don't know why I bother---it's like talking to self-entitled brick walls who have their hands perpetually extended. I despair for the future of this nation. My generation is asleep at the damned wheel, no doubt about it.

Socialism is about controlling others people's lives, on almost all levels.

Those who wish for socialism usually harbor the nasty little secret that they wish to be the one who controls other men.

+1 over here in Europe, I've talked to some of the locals about my country upbringing, and they are like "You're allowed to just shoot things? not hunting or in the army?" and I"m like yea, and when I get back, I'm going to be getting a handgun licence and a handgun, and they thought the idea of "shall issue" was crazy. I pity them

pray that the government does not continue on its way to big brother mother russia, cuz I stayed with a friend of a friend in Bratislava, and he said "feel free to knock on my door anytime. Thank God, I'm not afraid of knocks in the middle of the night now"

This is what our country should be about, it is sad that our constitution has been watered down and pissed on by politicians. Our founding fathers would have never seen this day coming. Our country is growing farther and farther away of what we originally stood for, so maybe it is time to get away from the democrat/republican parties and see what people like libertarians are about?

I feel sorry for you in having to sit and listen to that guy haha. I wish we could take a look at what life would be like for a day if we had less government restrictions and a smaller government. People would be able to arm themselves and grow their own crops and make their own electricity/power and not be taxed for it. Then again i think this is a dream that we all share.

What if a person's grass is too long, should they have liberty then? What if a guy has a felony on his record for possessing a contraband item or substance... won't you seize the opportunity to take away his rights? What if dear leader says someone is a terrorist, can't we just lop off their head with no pantywaist trials and due process? What if a driver ain't wearing his seatbelt, shouldn't we be allowed to tax them? What if a person tries to sell a tanning package to a 17 year old, don't we need a federal law against that? What if a woman writes a text message while driving? What if someone keeps too many pets in their house, don't you want to arrest them? What if a guy doesn't want to buy health insurance, he should be locked up right? What if some teenagers want to sit around drinking beer, their door should be broke down to arrest them in order to keep them safe from themselves, right? What if someone has has a campfire in his yard without a permit? What if someone's attire doesn't match up to community standards?

I don't know guys. I don't know if I am comfortable not being the town busy-body and helping everyone be safe and decent. Are you sure this freedom thing is such a good idea?

I know I missed out on the grass length debate. It was just too far along for me to jump in to. But no, I don't believe the government should be involved with any of this. These small infringements make me just as insane and angry as not being able to truly speak freely. Which is worse, someone forcing you to wear a seatbelt, or someone telling you that you can't yet drink alcohol, but you're free to join the military, police force, fire department and risk your life on a daily basis? I'd say neither is worse. They are equally disgusting regulations forced upon us by our own governments.

    Repped!

Will rep if you remind me in 24 hours.

Funny thing is, coming from a younger generation, growing in a pretty strict city (Toledo, Ohio was VERY strict in it's laws and enforcement), many kids my age have never known the OP's dream or were not around when alot of the things mentioned were the norm.

What was the norm for some, stripped away with horrifying precision and speed, is something many many of us "yung-ins" have never concieved. Sort of like the "crazy" old man trying to teach the young street punks the Constitution: Remarkably romantic and can be effective if the environment is bad enough for liberty to rekindle it's flame and immoliate the injustice surrounding us.

As for "peaceful recourse", both potential directions (violent and non-violent) but the individual outcomes of each (failure or success) frighten me and have kept me up at nights, honest truth. Not knowing the liberties that were once granted, what strict, disciplined force of will, forged by the inequities of the current, mutated system does the younger generations have? When status quo is "okay", what can one pull from in their hearts as the undying will to fight for liberty, particularly liberties I have not enjoyed?

We can speak of liberty, we can speak of injustice, however, how many will rise to the occasion? More specifically, like the training motto: We don't rise to the occasion, we revert to baseline training: What core foundations do I hold dear when most are "accepted" by my generation? Dreams, unless bound to rememberance of past injustice, are strong, but when no injustice is born into our minds, what material, what stuff does my generation have to base effective and glorious inspiration from.

I need to think on this hard, as I don't see myself as ardent of a patriot as I would like, the discipline long faded by apathy, complacency and degeneracy.

The OP's message of freedom does come with prices attached, such as potential safety, blood or tears shed to recover said liberty and the uncertainty of the future ahead.

"Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers, too plainly prove a deliberate, systematic plan of reducing [a people] to slavery." --Thomas Jefferson: Rights of British America, 1774.

He would be their candidate if he did that, would he? It ultimately boils down to the people because that is the pool from which the elected representatives are drawn.

Yep, you can't dip clean water from a dirty pond.
