Can any IMPD LEOs shed some light on this?

As I listen to the runs, I hear the various IDs. What is the meaning of the various prefixes like Baker 360, Charles 250, David 326, Frank 11, etc. Is there any rhyme or reason to the prefixes, or just randomly assigned? Are the prefixes by area, rank, etc?

You forgot the lowly trainees at 1800s. :):

with the online scanner scrolling through all the districts, its hard to tell who is who. I appreciate the clarification.

Yeah the recruit officers are currently 1800 units, though they also can be 1600 units.

I forgot that other 4-digit unit numbers made up of only numbers are detectives of any given discipline.

JoCo scanner has been down on my 5-0 app. The other day three officers went quickly into Elmore's parking lot. I wondered what was up .

An example of the above being F350 (frank three fifty). That would be a northwest car (frank) that works late shift (3) and is number 50 on that shift. Letters followed by a 1 are the commander of that district. Edward 1 (E1) is the commander of downtown district.

    other Ids

    SO special operations (eod)
    Tac tactical (swat)
Tr traffic (traffic, accident cars, and DUI0
    Fact (fatal alcohol crash team)
    K9 (canine duh)
    1800/1600 (rookies)
    Air (helicopter)
    Bk (bike units)
    Noc (negotiators)

Do unit numbers change if you're assigned a different district or pick up an OT shift than normally assigned?

No, not unless it's permanent. The only time I get a different unit number for the day is if I'm on ERG (Event Response Group), and then I get a "Alpha" or "Bravo" number which designates which squad I'm in. It changes each ERG event, as well. Because you use that number once, I usually write it on my hand (Palm Pilot...) so I can remember who I'm supposed to be that day.

Usually when I encounter people who can't remember who they are supposed to be it is a symptom of dementia/Alzheimer's. :):

That could be a wide number of things. They could all have been late to work there, they got the call from George that a hottie was in the store, Jason brought donuts in that day, or least likely there was actually a call...
