You need to get your post count up! Remember: 50 Quality posts! But they dont have to be long!
Welcome!
Hi Doug--
Fair challenge. I'm not proud of this...but I've been a passive "lurker" on this forum for a while. I have learned so much doing this, but I've never been one to really engage in on-line forums and social media. However, reading what was posted about the incident at Atterbury last weekend motivated me. What was described versus what I observed/experienced were so incongruous that I felt the need to join and provide my input for the first time. I didn't want the group of shooters to get an unfair reputation, based on the original post, if there is anyone on this forum that knows them and recognizes them based on the description of the incident (e.g., probably not a lot of people shooting a 338 LM at Atterbury). Again...not proud of being a lurker in the past, but I am motivated to continue to participate in this forum. Thanks.
It's more fun to post 50 not so quality posts to see how fast churchmouse can react
Well said.As I reflect on this thread, and the situation that precipitated it, I do find this to be a very interesting topic. If you ignore the distraction of Indycar's self-detonation, there still appears to be a polarization around the use of muzzle brakes at the gun range. Again...probably no absolute right or wrongs, but this thread highlights the potential need for shooters to consider their equipment and how it functions...leading (hopefully) to consideration on the downstream impact on others. It's everyone's responsibility to be good stewards of the sport.

Well said.
Sometimes because you can, doesn't me you should.
And remember, pants are optional on INGO.

And because you don't HAVE to doesn't mean you CAN'T.
I really don't like being in the presence of homosexuals, but I love to vacation in Key West Florida. When I go there I know there will be homosexuals around me. I don't jump all over them and tell them they don't have a right to be there, they're not breaking any rules if I want to go to key west, that's just what I have to deal with. If you want to go to a gun range you're going to have to deal with loud noises and everything that goes along with that, flying brass, concussion from large caliber weapons with brakes on them.
Range time, just like vacations, is expensive. The other people paid for their time, they get to be there.
LOLWUT?
...and what's the fee at Atterbury? At Roush Lake it's $4 for the day.
Now sing those words to this music...

Hmm. Essentially they're the same ranges, but without DNR subsidies, right?$7 an hour with every 15 or 30 minutes being a cease fire. Cease fires can get a little out of hand esp when shooters repeatedly go to the bench or make multiple trips downrange.

I still hate to see anyone go, I think the forum is better when we have people that disagree.
