As it states, I will soon be a new resident to Indiana, I already posted my greeting in the proper forum section (go me). I am coming from Texas and know the various laws here. For those without a license, they can still carry a firearm loaded and close by in their vehicle as Texas considers it a legal extension of your home. We can also open carry or conceal carry on our own property and I am familiar with self defense laws. As a Licensed Carry I also know where I can and cannot carry my fire arm and know the proper signs that must be visible.

As a soon to be new resident, some of the information I have gleaned from reading I have seen places that you are not allowed to carry at all (schools, courts, etc. . . ) Is there a specific sign, as in Texas, that blatantly states you cannot carry that must be displayed? From what I have also read, and please correct me if I am wrong, as a non licensed individual. If I am to have a firearm in my vehicle, I must have it locked up and rendered safe during transport?

Is there a link to where I can read all the laws in regards to these matters, to include self defense laws? I would greatly appreciate it as my eyes are starting to bother me from trying to search the forums.

Welcome to INGO and the Great State of Indiana. You have come to the right place for all kinds of firearms discussion as well as discussion on nearly everything else. Go to the link below and click on Indiana. Here's some big picture stuff:
Schools are GFZ, K-12 = school in Indiana, churches that are also schools are schools for firearms carry. School "buses and property included.
Courthouses, licensed Day Cares, casinos are GFZ.
Open carry is cool with a License To Carry a Handgun (LTCH). Indiana law is silent on method of carry.
Carry in a bar is authorized, gotta be over 21 to enter a bar in Indiana.
Signs do not have force of law (No Berettas signs can be ignored, leave if asked or it's trespassing).

Cross a state line and there's a whole different set of laws. Again, welcome!

Hi. Where are you moving to?
The Casino is strange, if you look at the law they must have lockboxes for you, but they don't have them. I posted about it, if you want to look it up.
Also watch out for schools where you don't think they are. The Children's museum in Indy has a school in it, but it's not marked.

This is illegal in Indiana as this is not Tejas.

rhino owes me a case of .45acp.

There are exceptions to school property.

Not necessarily the case at all in courts. Must be court ordinance or court order. There is no state statute on courts in Indiana.

No. Indiana has its license to carry law from part of the UFA that was being shopped around in 1935. This is long, long before the sign nonsense.

From what I have also read, and please correct me if I am wrong, as a non licensed individual. If I am to have a firearm in my vehicle, I must have it locked up and rendered safe during transport?

Rendered safe? Eez gon, eez not safe. I don't know what "rendered safe" means, sounds like one of those b.s. cop terms, but you can carry without a LTCH/pink card/Larry if you:

    1. Have the pistol--unloaded, inaccessible (trunk).

    2. Carry a pistol made before 1899 or blackpowder under 2-19.

Is there a link to where I can read all the laws in regards to these matters, to include self defense laws?

Title 35 is what you need to read.

Remember "TACS". Indiana Code is: Title, Article, Chapter, Section

Wait a minute. So I can go out and get a cheap Nagant revolver and open carry it without an LTCH? As long as it was made before 1899?

If you do, prepare yourself for the 12-14lb double-action trigger.
That thing is almost like compressing shocks!

Also, have you looked at the prices lately?
    They ain't so "cheap" anymore...
