I voted for Mitch back in '08 and absolutely loved him, I'm sad he didn't run for president. I voted for Pence hoping for a repeat of Daniels and was sorely disappointed, that RFRA garbage soiled the image of Indiana and drove tens of millions of tax dollars away. I don't think I can vote for holcomb, but Young is getting my vote. We have to keep the senate out of the hands of the democrats.

You loved Daniels, but can't vote for the guy who actually drove his policy?

This is largely a contrived prognostication of the Indy Star and the gaystoppo which has since proven to be a fart in the wind.

Now hold on. Holcomb drove Mitch's car - literally and figuratively. He absolutely did not drive the policies. :)

Mitch drove his own policies. Anyone who wasn't on board with that was moved out. That's part of what made/makes Mitch a great leader: he has both vision and is willing to take action.

Holcomb took the actions he was told to take. I'm not knocking him for that - he did a good job at it. But that's a much different role than being the Guy.

I still think the RFRA [STRIKE]wasn't[/STRIKE] was a misplaced idea, but was nevertheless pushed by Hoosier Republicans as Evangelical virtue signaling.

I wish Mitch would have had the political capital to make good on one of his goals. Eliminating the township system in Indiana. It's a completely unnecessary government body and serves no real purpose other than to provide yet another office for cronies.

I do think closing all the mental institutions in the state was a mistake though.

I think it was a misplaced idea. The establishment clause in the 1A and the modern incorporation view of the 14A should be all that's required to repel a government's usurpation of one's freedom to practice their religion. I still don't think it was necessary but in light of the gaystoppo's campaign to force acceptance and quash all resistance of their agenda -- to force their morality on everyone else, I'm pretty sure this was a defensive maneuver to push back against the onslaught.

ETA: I meant to say "was" a misplaced idea. I had changed the sentence and forgot to change the negation.

I'm with you on the gaystoppo's campaign. I didn't agree with the RFRA, but given the ****storm I supported Pence telling the gaystoppo to **** off. I just wish he'd have stuck with it. The more mobshaming campaigns the gaystoppo wins, the stronger they get.

Agreed. If you're going to take a stand you know is going to **** off a certain constituency (especially one that didn't vote for you and wouldn't, no matter whay, anyway) stick to it and make your case, be persuasive, and take the slings and arrows if you believe your actions are just. Otherwise you look like a spineless, empty suit.

There was good and bad in the townships. Here, we wanted to keep the townships. Otherwise everything in Delaware County would belong to the idiots who run Muncie.

As for the mental institutions, I'm sorry you lost your home :D

I saw this post in a Rokita ad today on FB. Has Braun ever held elective office?

Mike Braun and Luke Messer have a history of voting for tax hikes. NOT CONSERVATIVES!

Oh, and has Braun ever addressed the story that he was always a registered Democrat in the primaries down where he is from?
