Last month I had to draw on a man in my yard.
I have a detached garage.
it is about 20 ft from my house and just behind.
It is much easier to get to from my front door.
I walked out to mow my lawn.
As I walked down my driveway.
I head something behind me.
There is a very junky pick-up truck coming down my driveway at me (slowly).
I quickly seen that they were moble blacktop sealers.
I wanted nothing to do with them.
I looked directly into their windshield.
I pointed for them to go back out.
After the third pointing.
They backed up.
I turned and proceeded to my lawnmower.
I heard a junky door open and slam shut.
I turned and seen a man walking down my driveway towards me.
I hastened into my garage to my 9mm.
I returned to the open door.
I just pointed it directly at his head. finger on safe.
When he realized he had a gun pointed at him.
He called out, "I am calling the police."
I said, "Go ahead."
That was repeated several times.
He walked back to the truck.
I sat down on my lawn tractor with gun pointed
An officer arrived.
He was in an unmarked car and I do not remember seen any patches on him.
When he got out of his car.
I rolled the gun on my finger and showed it to him.
Then I got off the tractor and put the gun on the seat.
The officer walked up to me and said, " I seen the gun."
"Thank You for showing it to me."
We talked about what happened.
I described everything.
He said,"You have every right to defend your self."
Then he went and talked to the people in the truck.
Then the county officer arrived. I live in unincorporated area.
We went over the whole story again.
Then the county officer asked if I went back into my house to obtain the weapon.
I looked him directly in his eye and said, "That would be stupid."
I have one out here.
He thought for a minute and said, "OH that is smart."
I found out later. They knocked down one of my driveway markers as they were backing up.
THE MAN JUST PRESENTED HIMSELF BADLY FROM THE START.

I wasn’t there so I can’t tell you what you did was right or wrong.

I would have asked him what he wanted, from a distance, before I drew on him.

I knew what they wanted. I did not want it and made it very clear for them to leave.
I did not want to argue my rejection.
Question, How close do YOU think it is safe to have a stranger approach you after they almost run you over with a truck on your driveway?

I’m not second guessing you. I wasn’t there.

I just asked my state representative, Chris Campbell, why she voted no for this bill. She wrote back "Thank you for taking the time to reach out to me regarding my vote on HB 1284. I did not vote for this bill because there are already laws that protect an individual in cases of self-defense of others. I believe this bill would not enhance that protection."

I need to do futher research on this.

Using this logic, which is amazing since it is logical, since there are already laws against murder, do we really need more firearm laws? I wonder how Chris Campbell would answer that?

Well Spike, the BEST thing that would have happened is that they would have spent a couple hours of your time trying to sell you something you don't want for a scented candle. The worst thing is that you wouldn't be here to post this.

Well Thor you made a lot of scents writing this.
I think you overdose on the candle smoke.

Hey, I've had vacuum cleaner salesmen use this line before...and then try to depart without leaving the candle. ;) The wife really wanted the candle, I told her I'd just buy her one in the future.

Just keep sniffing those candles.
You will get there someday.

As we used to say to our kids "use your words".

It's nice that they let you off without a "pointing" charge though. I'd send the police some cookies.
