In all seriousness, that was the Air Force. They give a ribbon for passing boot camp. :D

Thank you for demonstrating that you are completely and utterly ignorant of the subject.

When people pull the interservice "the air force are wimps" argument, I usually point out that my ASVAB scores could have gotten 3 to 5 (depending on which) people into their service. However, in your case, I'll simply ask: What are in boxes 23-27 of your 214?

"Forward, harch [sic]" and "company, halt!" are pretty easy for anyone to get. So is a crude form of "Attention." Five wide at right shoulder arms will get the job done. "Form up" is also pretty easy. We're not going to do drill team, flipping rifles to one another.

    And the demonstration continues.

Further, this is the militia. Some manner of drill is required.

    Says who?

Do you know the purpose of close order drill? What it's roll is in military training? What the rationales are for keeping or discarding it (and that's an ongoing debate) in the modern military?

Can you explain why a militia, which would never in their right minds flight in a Roman Maniple or a Greek Phalanx would need to worry about close order drill?

We need a rudimentary uniform. I'll toss out black slacks, a red polo shirt, sunglasses and a beret for Summer parade dress.

Are you sure you wouldn't be more comfortable replacing that polo shirt with a Che T-shirt?

That's really a pretty weak and strained false dichotomy. Further, most people would not take seriously some dude with an AR slung around his back, pulling a Little Tykes wagon.

Tell you what, why don't you organize the event you think should be held and we'll see which has more positive effect. How about that?

Just say you're trolling and, aw, never mind, I'll say it for you. You're trolling.

Do knock off the intellectual cowardice. This easy use of ad hominem and pejorative around here lets a noisy few of you jump over the nearest berm at the first hint of reproof and hide from any spirited intellectual banter. You couldn't get away with such mob behaviour anywhere outside of your amen corner.

God, if we all stipulated to a few points of dogma, you'd have nothing left to say:

    "Obama sucks"
    "Democrats are socialists"
    "Republicans are great"
    "Obama is a socialist"
    "Obamacare will destroy America"
    "Vote Republican in November"
    "America has to support Israel"
    "We need a big military"

Yeah, the daily rote profession of these statements of faith really has, as you put it, a "positive effect." Let anyone look in here, and they'll think us a monolithic block of solid Republican voters whose voting position is known and unchangeable. That's the highway to marginalization. When your votes are known in advance, the candidates will spend little time speaking to your case.

When suggested that a strong and public showing of gun owners be made during this "time of crisis," you moderate your position, being content to distribute gun flyers from the kiddie's stroller. Some "time of crisis," indeed.

The frisbee players on the Mall don't really need convincing. This march is supposed to be to influence and persuade the government, not a few couples on blankets.

You're facing the wrong way on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Aye, I'm curious about best parking as well. I'm not terribly familiar with Indy, so I'd hate to drive around for 45 minutes to find parking.

Yes. This is definitely something, along with any other last-minute minute details that need to be ironed out and set in concrete.

Please tell me where to park, and an exact timeline of the event. We don't need any confusion or surprises. Also, what is our self-policing policy; how do we get rid of idiots who are damaging our appearance? :dunno:

If there are enough interested Amateur Radio operators, we can organize a net, too.

    BLOODECLIPSE - very nice.

Pobably what I'll do if I don't see anything along the street. It's a bit of a walk, though. And, is there still a lot of constrution going on there?

Most important: Is parking in the North Lot of the State House a No-No?

For anyone that doesn't know - the State House (I belive) is the blue building at the top right corner that looks like "I" with the grass sectioned into four triangles.

Lots of street-side parking around the state house. Meters will be free on saturday. See you there!

What is the closest contingency parking in the event that the street-side spots are filled?

White river SP, Zoo, Circle Center Mall, and Anything else you can find in the area pretty much. Not many places to park in that area that are free.
