Honest question, what is the core goal of this? I fully support the 2A and went to one of these a couple years ago, rifle slung and all. Didn't seem like it had much impact and almost like it shed the wrong light on the group. Feel like people look at these like I view the the feminist marches like "wow, what a bunch of idiots". Again, all about our constitutional rights here. Just a minor concern based on a brief observation.
I guess that's why I'm asking what the goal here is. If its informing the public by speaking truth and facts a rally just doesn't seem to be a great tool. At the same time if it's making a bold stance to show Americans are serious about their 2A rights, i think it's bs to leave your rifle at home to cater to the current pc world.
Using the 1st Amendment in support of the 2nd is how I'd describe it. Most gun owners are incredibly law abiding and just want to be left alone. When thousands of them around the country gather? It's a reminder of how many of us thee are, and we are paying attention. We aren't all in the same shirt, because we're here on our own dime (a point we could try to make until we're blue in the face, all for naught.)
Our side has a lot of opinions and views, INGO proves this constantly. We don't have a few benefactors who call the shots and give us shirts. As BrotherBill3 has stated it's recommended "we come as we are" to show this is who we are. Borrowing a line from Guy Relford, these things can turn into "show off your hardware" shows. More to follow...
Brother this speaks volumes.
Also if the organizers request you leave the heavy hardware at home and come as you usually are then why question their intent. If you want to do this then step up and organize your own peaceful protest and set your guidelines to fit it. Why is this even an issue. This is why we stand divided.

Following without asking questions is what liberals do, which is why everyone has to rally in the first place.
Gonna be there? Thanks for answering my question. This makes sense.
This time around "The open carry of long guns is not suggested". Because yeah, there's a world of difference in perception between open carry pistols and black rifles right now.
FIREARMS: Legal possession and carry of firearms is encouraged. Be advised that you may NOT step onto State Government Complex Property while in possession of a firearm. This includes Senate Avenue between the Capital Building and the Government Center Buildings to the west. Please Carry Safely (Remember the 4 rules!)
DRESS: There is no specific dress code for this event. We would RECOMMEND and PREFER that you dress as you normally would. There is no need to create a false or impressive image. Dress in comfortable and weather appropriate attire. We are trying to show that we are normal people, who choose to be prepared; and part of that preparedness, is that we are armed.
SHOPS, STORES, RESTAURANTS, ETC: I expect we have all seen the ridiculous pictures of many of the armed marches that have carried long guns into businesses that create a highly negative and divisive view of our cause with the public at large. Therefore, we are RESPECTFULLY and SPECIFICALLY request that long guns are NOT carried INTO BUSINESSES. Remember, we’re trying to make positive impression; we have plenty of opposition already. Thank you in advance for remembering and considering the rights of the property owners in this request.
A Note from the Local Hosts: Yes, we know of the past exceptions to this request. These were all done with prior notification and the O.K. of the specific businesses. While OC of side-arms is not entirely unusual downtown, and the OC of Long guns is legal; a number of these businesses are even opposed to concealed carry. And those NOT opposed to any form of carry, do not wish to have negative publicity associated with long guns tied to their business.
Let’s be respectful, smart and safe about how we present ourselves, and how we carry both our goals and firearms.
I have one weekend off a month. I have to choose between the rally and my Granddaughters 6th birthday. She wins fellas. I only see her once a month as well, she lives to far away

WHY: We the people recognize that natural rights protected by the Constitutions of the United States of America, and the State of Indiana, are in danger of further infringements, and even nullification. We are exercising our 1st Amendment right to peaceably assemble, to raise our collective voice so that our well-reasoned positions will be heard by the public, and by our elected legislators.
Please do not take this as a direct knock on you. It is not and just stating a mind set we often see surrounding these issues.
Again......setting up and maintaining a united front. That is the answer.
Gonna be there?
There are several reasons -
To start: from the FB Pinned post again:
It is partly to SHOW - Legislators we are serious - and we are not "just a few squeaky voices" - but rather a large contingent of a great cross-section of America.
It is also to SHOW - the media - and the world - that many of us - CHOOSE to live a prepared life - that mean and includes being prepared and armed.
(see the ending part of the "DRESS" section in prior post).
It is partly to MOTIVATE - more 2A supporters and gun owners - to GET OFF TH COUCH - and get involved.
It is to provide info to those that can't be there but can see it on Social Media - INGO - in clubs and other places - location to reach out to for information and support.
It is a 'kick off party' to the coming US House and Senate debates on various gun controls
it is to show support for alternatives of "Gun Control" (confiscations / bans) to provide safety to our schools and children and everywhere.
Please - participate -
"The responsibility for freedom lies with all free people" ...
we've been given these tools and opportunities by our founders who didn't line up to petition
... but to risk getting shot.
And as I noted - A LOT OF PEOPLE will be there w/ long guns - The note on the flyer is a remnant of the national group flyer.
No issue at all. Trying to determine if the gathering is worth attending.
I believe I will, but only in the hopes politicians will notice the numbers showing. No one else will hardly hear of it due to the media's stance.
Don't really care if anyone carry's guns or not. After doing so last time I though it was a little pointless tbo. The rally script just seemed to have a bit of a pc vibe to me is all.
On a side note, thanks for heading this up. I have no FB btw.
