While there is chatter about Universal Background Checks proposals in Congress, Indiana has lived with UBCs frin 1974 to 1998 for all handgun transfers.

Indiana's UBC was found at Indiana Code 35-47-2-8(a) prior to 1999.

If you were buying and selling pistols from 1974 to 1998,

    1. Did you comply with the statute?

    2. Did you know anyone arrested for a violation of this statute.

    3. Do you know of any crime in Indiana from 1974 to 1998?

I worked at Galyan's, Pike Plaza, from 1988 to 1991. We did one transfer between private parties.

Now that you ask, I do remember doing one new purchase and transfer in this manner. I bought a gun from the Bullet Hole and transferred if to my sister using this system. It was done this way upon her request. She later gave the gun to my mother who then in turn gave it back to me. Now my sister wants another gun. Should I give it back to her?

I know that white bread is not supposed to be good for you. But, I really love to have my bacon sammich with really fresh white bread. All I need is real crispy bacon and some mayo. Mmmm Mmmm good. :rockwoot:

I'm sorry, what was your question? :D

*Surveys smoking wreckage that thread has become*

Ok, what the heck happened. It was going great and then bacon broke out.:D

Did not live in IN back then. Moved in in 1989. From Chicago

You lived under Indiana's UBC for 9 years, from 1989 to 1998.

Do you know of anyone that bought pistols in those years from non-FFL holders?

Heck I don't remember having to do transfers or back ground checks. I have stacks of the pink forms that would come in the mail with weapon serial numbers ect. I do recall having to show my DL and sign a log book when buying ammunition.
