Thank you. I'll look into it.A chronograph can help with much more than bullet speed. You can identify your nodes with your ladder tests to develop a consistent load that prints

It's only 100 yards with a known good load. I hesitate to point a finger at the trigger puller, but....Thank you. I'll look into it.

It's not the trigger puller. 100 yd, 5-shot group with my US Springfield M1922M1.It's only 100 yards with a known good load. I hesitate to point a finger at the trigger puller, but....
Front rest and rear bunny ear bag were used. The Indian is not in the equation. I haven't found the right arrow(s) yet.I'd bag both front and rear and try some other ammo. Temporarily take the Indian out of the equation. My Colt prefers 69 & 77gr SMK to Hornady 75gr.
But, like you, I bought & installed a CLE free float tube and had guards. I haven't shot mine since installing them though (2+ years!!!).
Thanks for the pointers.Couple of things:
1. Awesome to see someone else getting into highpower! When you're ready to come to Atterbury next year and shoot with CIHPRS, let me know.
2. Any if the powders you mentioned will work ok, but don't overlook Vihtavouri N135 and N140. Its top notch stuff, and somehow more available and cheaper than anything else right now.
3. It's tough, but don't put TOO much faith in AR groups shot from a rest like that if you're not accustomed to shooting them off a bench. An AR is a different animal than a bolt gun. There's a long time for things to move around between when that hammer releases and starts its 90 deg swing until it makes contact with the piring pin.
In my experience, I can only get an AR to group off a bench if I'm gripping it tight (as in tight enough to leave checkering imprints on my hand, not enough to squeeze water out of it). I pull it firmly into my shoulder, and try to smother it with a lot of cheek pressure if you can still get a good sight picture. Basically I try to smother it to keep it from moving between hammer trip and when the bullet leaves the barrel. Free recoil never worked at ALL for me with an AR.
When I'm shooting my service rifle in a prone match (60 rnds plus sighters), I sling up tight enough that I'll be bruised where the stock lays in my shoulder pocket. That's through a t-shirt, hoodie, and a heavy Creedmoor hardback coat. That's sling tension, not recoil. Other better shooters than me may disagree, but I shot all my best scores slung up TIGHT.
I appreciate the invite. I'd be there if I could but there's a LOT of miles between L.A. and Indiana.60 round Mid-Range this weekend at FWRR, I'll be the match rifle guy....see ya there
But a great reason for a road tripI appreciate the invite. I'd be there if I could but there's a LOT of miles between L.A. and Indiana.
