This is interesting. My wife is not anti gun but she is very weary of them. I think it come from lack of knowledge and trust. I have been working with her comfort level.

This seems to follow other threads where it's been stated that in most cases the perps of mass killings are liberal, socialist,...etc. They appear to have some serious anger issues and don't have a problem acting on them.

The fact they don't trust themselves is disturbing. Add to that the fact they think others shouldn't own guns because they can't control themselves only adds to it. I had some pretty severe anger issues most of my life which I got under control WHEN I became a gun owner. It's a huge responsibility to own a gun, as all of you know, and that's the catalyst that I needed to change. It's been for the better. I'm happier, the people closest to me are happier. I'm not saying I didn't trust myself with a gun, I'm just saying I was angry.

But when people openly admit they have such impulses to kill someone for making them upset or over something trivial such as a delay at a toll booth those folks need some serious therapy and/or be locked up.

your brother was trying to interact with you about one of your hobbies.
But doesn't understand the hobby well enough to discuss. You had a great opportunity.

If he broaches the subject again, maybe educate him about the extreme care and humility that most gun owners exercise when considering self defense options. Many antis really do believe we carry to intimidate others. Or to feel invincible. They have no idea of the thought and considerations that go into our decision to carry. And the responsibility that comes with that choice.

My daughter threatened me with death on Saturday. Being 10, I know she was trying to play around with me and communicate how very much she wanted to do something. I had to check her a little bit and told her that some people wouldn't understand that humor.

Sometimes people just don't know the rules around the discussion. Doesn't mean they are stupid or untrustworthy. Just uninformed.

Yeah, like the extreme right-wing nutjob that shot up the theater in VA or NC recently.

And re the "they don't trust themselves" line, we don't trust ourselves either. Every gun show I've ever attended has a "no loaded guns" policy (and the 1500 has gone so far as to prohibit vendors from carrying an empty gun), and a large percentage of gun shops have signs prohibiting loaded guns. This sends a clear message to the anti-gun crowd - why should they trust us to handle firearms safely and responsibly, when we don't even trust ourselves?

    Is this a Chicago thing?

I had a similar conversation (at a Christian camp) with an anti from there. At one point I said, "do you think I would shoot you?"

He shrugged, so I walked away.

This definitely sounds like the case in favor of OPEN ROAD TOLLING....sorry, just being a smart ass.

Everyone here has very good points. I chose "uninformed" as my choice.

If listening to a recording of a helpless woman being murdered in her own home by an intruder (youtube, a 911 tape) isn't enough to make the anti's see things differently, then I don't know what would. Incredibly heartbreaking and disturbing, indeed.

First of all, no anti gun nut job would ever be in my vehicle, but if one happened to slip by me, and we became friends somehow, and I learned it at that moment, I can guarantee you he would be on his own.

It isn't an anger issue. I didn't threaten to commit violence like he did. I'm also not controlling his behavior, simply removing him from my property for being an idiot. Not exactly the same thing.

NOT to be a "smarty" pants, if you REALLY feel that way, then WHY do you live in S B ?????

This is another video that demonstrates why people should have the option to be armed to defend themselves

    - This is a male that she has had trouble with in the past
    - He has a history of violence and intimidation (slashed her tires)
    - She only purchased the gun the day before

And (in no way meant to disparage our LEO community) this is something that I think the antis need to remember; The police have no duty to protect you http://www.firearmsandliberty.com/kasler-protection.html

I work with one that told me his parents were Democrats and that's why he is today. I'm sure glad his parents were not child molesters or murders, how would he have ended up. Don't believe that some are able to think for themselves...

    Could be anywhere
Liberals know they can not convince you with the force of their arguments and can not force you to do what they want if you have a gun.

You will not agree, so you must be disarmed to make it easier to force you to act like you agree. Socialism, ideas so good they need to be enforced at the point of a gun.

I actually ran into this at one of my field offices. The day after Obama was reelected I was down there and the office manager cautiously asked who I voted for. She proudly (and rather arrogantly) professed her vote for Obama, followed with "I'm a lifelong dem... my mom is one, and so was her mom. Its a legacy among the women in my family!"

I quickly went to her workstation and had her take the worlds smallest political quiz. She hit submit and her jaw literally hung open when she saw she was squarely in Libertarian territory and her ideology wasnt really rooted in the Democrat camp like she imagined. She insisted that it was a rigged test and "...no matter how you answer the results are always the same. I'm going to go back through and change some answers and see if the results change."

She was a lemming and just could not wrap her head around that she was voting purely based on her maternal legacy/party loyalty and nothing else.

We have had several conversations on the topic of guns. I have worked in the firearms industry for a few years, and he knows this, he thinks it's fine for me to have one, because he knows me. He doesn't trust other people, or himself with them. He is fine with my dad, and our uncle, and myself, and that's about it. I have offered to have him come and try to shoot a few different guns, so he is more informed, but he hasn't had the time yet, he actually is a very busy person. Part of his feelings about guns, comes from the extensive traveling that he has been able to do because of his job. He has been all over the world, and has seen the bans on guns in other countries, and say's he feels safer in those countries. I just said that he might want to move to one of those countries then.

That's it. If he wants to be safer, move, and give up all of his freedoms.
