Don't forget about the 20,000 US Servicemen and women still in S. Korea.

It's inevitable that one will get killed in any attack by N Korea and bingo, we have an excuse to open up a third front and kill some more "evil doers".

America is bankrupt and we are about to enter a third war. Should we really care if they fight? Should we really care if one kicks the others butt?

Is it worth hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of Americans lives?

I say no... but then again I love my country so I have a biased opinion.

No war,not now. The North is simply doing what they do and are usually rewarded for doing. A provocation, then China sits everybody down so a nice "incentive package" can be negotiated to keep the DPRK in line. Works like a charm, every time.
If war were on the agenda I don't think the North would telegraph their intentions days/weeks ahead of time by a small attack on a remote island.
The big day will come with no warning.

    :patriot:Opinions vary:patriot:

Just because you're ignorant of the meaning doesn't mean your opinion bears any weight what-so-ever.

We are being lead by a socialist that screws our military, is printing money as fast as he can thereby devaluing our currency, we're 13 TRILLION in debt and adding a trillion or more a year to that debt, he's screwing around with North Korea and Iran, he's angered all of our most important allies, is continuing to fight two wars we can't afford and who even attended a church for 20 years that preached hatred of our nation.

In case you haven't noticed, China and Russia dropped the dollar as a trade currency. Perhaps this doesn't mean much to you, but in reality is a big deal that is one major step closer to a complete collapse of our currency and economy.

I would say we're in distress.

    Here, go learn something.

Could be actual preemptive movements, could be something else: Let's bear in mind, we only hear what our spy satalites show us and what their media tells us, coupled with the presumptuary and occasionally wrong/biased observations of their government leaders.

What we probably didn't hear is Russia probably kicked them out or wanted to reduce their connection with NK by "giving" back their refugees? TONS of things that could be this. Posturing? Maybe. But they could be using something that is relatively benign (and sort of funny, who would want to go BACK to NK? :D ) during a time of posturing and use it to their advantage to scare the region into working WITH them. Look at the messaging so far: After the attack, we began to put everything on alert, SK threatens to scud NK's butt if they even sneeze and we are performing some pretty heavy war games in the region right now. NK? What card do they have to play? Invasion? China would get really POed if they did that (and would cut their impressive aid package to them), so that is off the table, how else could Kim Jong Il get his Hennesey Congnac then? Okay, regular posturing? Dismissed as such. Okay, let's take a news story about returning workers and our own propaganda machine to twist it into something we can threaten the west with? Ah ha! :(

My bother, who is a contractor over in the ROK, is of the same general opinion as Kalboy. I'm not so sure. Kim Jung Il is batsh*t nuts and so is his youngest son (and heir), so just about anything could happen. The war games going on at present aren't in response to the NK attack, but have been in the works for some time; they are a semi-annual event. It will be interesting to see who blinks first.

Remember how in Orwell's 1984, they had an "enemy". One that no one ever really saw, but there was always an enemy, and there was always a tremendous amount of news and propaganda about them and the "war" that was supposedly raging on. Not to mention all the other bits about keeping people in line with very special re-education techniques....

I'm beginning to think there is a copy of 1984 laying under Dear Leader's pillow.
