I snagged a nice remmy 700 with a piece of decent glass on it for right at 400, I would too, like to suggest a bolt action. Its the more accurate out of them. If you looked hard enough, you could find a decent condition FAL.
I am not by any means a "cheap" individual, but I don't go and buy a scope that costs twice as much as the gun. With that, if you want inexpensive for a scope, go with a decent tasco, I won't touch a BSA with a 10ft pole again....lol
