I was in the IRS office in Columbus to pick up some tax forms and they have a no guns or knives sign on the door. Is it illegal to carry there like the Post Office, or just a request you to leave zone?

I think it would hinge on the status of the building. Is it a Federal building, or is the IRS office in a public building considered Federal.

I worked for the Census Bureau. We leased space in a larger building. The space was considered to be Federal property for the length of the lease. Anyone that come to the office had to comply with Federal regulations.Based on that experience, the IRS office would be considered Federal property, whether it is a leased space in a large building or a stand-alone building.
