So here's how things are shaping up. I decided to go with Marglobe, Rutgers, Roma, and a large red cherry tomato. We didn't have any cardboard egg cartons, so I planted them in styrofoam in seed-starter soil. I put a few in each spot because they won't all come up. I will cull them and pull out a few of the best ones to plant in the peat pots. Final total will probably be about 8-10 plants.

Mine just came up this week. Only thing left to sprout are the eggplants.

I planted too soon. They're out of control. Oh, the humanity!

I'll just have to sort them out in a couple of weeks. It's still too early to set them out, and if I handle them too much they will snap off.

You needed to transplant them to bigger pots as they grow. Ours are in 1 gal now. Should be ok in those till put in the ground. That's looking like Memorial Day weekend once again with the crap future forecast

EDIT. These are on 3rd transplant.

I know. Life happened. Mom fell. Twice. They just got away from me.

Biggest thing is getting them in bigger pots. Get some dowel rod and plant ties. Be gentle and as Expat said put those roots deep and it will give some extra stability with part of the stem buried as well.
