sig better quality than glocks in my opinion...better than and m & p...but i feel the 2022 is right on par with glocks and m&p pistols...that being said i find that cz pistols are right on par with sig pistols..but its an opinion of mine base on owning all of them...i have ....i have never had a failure of any kind with a sig or a cz or an m&p....i have with my glock 19 (gasp)....

Yes and no. They work, they work very well. But for me it's a training issue. I don't want to spend the time learning to be proficient with a DA/SA trigger when I normally carry a glock.

This (except the Glock part). I've carried a Sig 229 for work for over 13 years. They are reliable effective guns but I hate DA/SA triggers. If I had my way I would carry an M&P.

As a Sig armorer for a medium sized department I can say that most PD reliability issues with any platform revolve around poor maintenance. We have had problems with the 229s but most were lack of proper cleaning. We had one batch that broke extractors very early on, even on the other guns broken extractors are the most common failure, and some of the takedown levers were breaking at the spot where the lever and the cylinder meet. Our older guns are failing to lock open due to worn magazine springs but that isn't the guns fault. My biggest complaint is the inconsistency of the DA/SA trigger.

BTW, a short reset trigger is a must. They are easy to install and well worth the money. I wish Sig just put them on all guns but I suppose they couldn't charge for the upgrade if they did that.

Sigs are quality guns. Are they worth the money? Not in my book, I am over sigs. Way too many guns compete in quality at a more reasonable price point.

Not trying to start anything but... off the top of my head, durability and accuracy better than sig - CZ, accuracy can be debated but better durability - Glock. On par accuracy, FN, M&P the list goes on. It is all debatable but I think although Sig is a very good quality product it is overpriced and many handguns easily compete head to head with Sig at a lower price point. The days of getting what you pay for are far in the past.

Just my opinion, you got it for free take it for what its worth.

I have a SIG for my EDC. Put around 1000 rounds through it and not a single jam or ejection issue. only problem I have ever had is occasionally the slide doesn't lock back on the last round in the mag. Normally that issue is fixed with a little bit of lube. In my experience, there is no handgun that can compare to SIG in accuracy and durability. I would recommend buying one used. You can get them much cheaper and since they are such high quality, if they are decently well kept, it won't have any issues. There is a reason that Naval Special Warfare, ISP ERT, and many other military and law enforcement agencies issue the Sig P226.

gregkl, I shoot IPSC, and have for a long time. For the past few years I've shot a 226, dak, 40 in production. Before I took a long break, I shot a 226 da/sa in 9mm in production. This year I switched to the 320 for production, as well as some 3 gun. I shoot at South Central.

I carried a personally owned Sig 220 45 when working with the USMS and then was issued a Sig 228 with my current agency for about 10 years. All were flawless YES they are pricy but YES they are worth it. No need to do anything to them.
