If lack of jobs caused terrorism..... shouldn't there be more beheading in the United States...... since the unemployment rate is so high?

They cant say the problem is because of their faith. They cant say the truth about the problem because that would show the republicans were RIGHT about "the war on terror." They cant admit the truth because it destroys their entire ideology, so they'll blame America, they'll blame jobs, etc. Here's the reply that wins. Jobs and economic growth and freedom are Western Ideals. ISIS HATES western ideal and people. So there is no way that lack of jobs or an economy are the reason they are doing what they are doing. Case closed.

I'm thinking some of them at least are getting paid fairly well for running around and brutalizing people.

Don't see them studying to be a heating and air conditioning tech when they can drive around hell bent for leather shooting machine guns and beheading, burning, and crucifying folk while spending that stolen oil money.

Leadership clearly is having difficulty understanding these people and it's easy to see why. They enjoy what they are doing, and the thinking is in that scary area beyond nihilism. One of thier supporters was on the radio the other day saying that if all you have is a fork, they will fight with a fork. When people like this set their sights on you it gets very primitive, either they go or you do.

Any possibility that the State Dept. can be sent over there to supervise their job searches? At least it would solve one of the problems.

Trying to make ISIS less murderous by giving them jobs is like thinking that taking a rattle snake and treating it like a little kitten is not going to have a bad turnout.

Actually treating a rattlesnake snake gently is how you do it when handling them. Opp, AL - Rattlesnake Rodeo.

As Robert Heinlein had Lt.Col. DuBois (MI, Ret.) respond to the same naive notion in Starship Troopers: (Paraphrased) Violence never solves anything? Why not ask the City Fathers of Carthage for their opinion. Or the Dodo. Or the Great Auk. Their existences were settled pretty thoroughly settled by the use of violence. What a stupid notion: that we can't KILL our way out of this situation. It's a solution that worked perfectly well in World War I, World War II, and in many other wars. Perhaps we ought to ask the Persian survivors of Attila's Hordes - oh wait! There weren't any. The Mongols killed men, women, children, and animals until there was nothing left. "They made a Desert and called it Peace." We COULD do the same - by conventional means, not using nuclear, chemical or biological weapons - if we decided to do it. Nothing they have in the Middle East could stand up to even the combined military forces America itself could mount today, much less what we could do if we were mobilized and motivated to do it. They'd better hope they don't manage to motivate us.
